Report: Bangladesh to overtake Malaysia by 2050

Yes,PwC used this undercounted PPP GDP of Bangladesh for the next 33 years.This is a big problem with such a long time projection.If correct ppp gdp figure is used in case of Bangladesh,than their projection will certainly showed BD among the top 20 economy by 2050.This PPP undercount problem of BD will remain up until LDC graduation.Bangladesh is unique with such a large economy living with LDC family.Next largest LDC economy is Sudan have only one third the size of BD.Most of LDC have only a few billion dollar economy with heavily dependent on foreign aid and land locked geography.

PPP "undercount". You and iajdani seriously have no idea how ICP calculates PPP.

I can post just how much BD consumes of basic physical items (regarding energy, transport, materials), but it will be like beating a dead horse.

There is no "incorrect" and "correct" PPP measure for BD. You have price level data and a basket composition. One indication of basket composition:

Food consumption as a share of household expenditure
% of total household expenditure

World Average = 29.9%

India = 30.5%

Pakistan = 34.8%
Nepal = 43.9%
Mali = 45.4%
Laos = 50.8%
Nigeria = 51.8%
Sudan = 52.9%
BD= 53.8%
Ethiopia = 55.4%

(Source: FAO)

If you are talking about hidden economy, then that affects the entire developing world. If you feel that affects you disproportionately, fix your stagnant and miserable corruption rather than blaming World Bank (ICP) and PwC:

http://www.transparency.org/news/feature/corruption_perceptions_index_2016

BD score 2012 = 26
BD score 2016 = 26

Remember that such hidden economy cannot be so big anyway in BD given the clear amount of raw materials and consumer goods you publish data for.

No big deal as BD has 5 times the population of Malaysia.

Absolutely. No offence to Malaysia they have used their economic advantages in natural resources well.

BD lacks these currently and growing through industrialisation, export of manpower globally and home grown advances in agriculture . Ultimately our economy will surpass them. They are not a good barometer of success as they are a much smaller country populationwise. However they offer many good things that we can learn from. I have hope that we will find oil in the bay and we should seek to exploit that one time opportunity to propel our economy into and industrial and knowledge based economy.

BD has out performed all predictions and it will outperform these as well.

Good for Bangla - much respect. Pakistan looks like the country that achieves the sharpest increase. from 24th to 16th. That is some climb.

so awami paid up report now using 2050 "feel good" projection while at present people of Bangladesh is living in hell.

And "blue-sky", "Doyababa" , Russel verities are readily available to do the awami hukka hua chorus.

Err...you are living in TrumpLand, right? How do you know people of Bangladesh is living hell? Well, your Jamaati buddies are indeed living in hell. But for the rest, let someone living in Bangladesh speak out. i.e. @TopCat @Doyalbaba @Species

In this day and age, one does not have to live in Bangladesh to know what goes on in Bangladesh. More than half of youth are jobless and willing to die escaping Bangladesh, trying to go to Malaysia or Europe. Isn't that hell enough? Only awami thugs live in fantasy haven.

oh unlike awami thugs people like me go to Bangladesh all the time.

People of Bangladesh have always wanted to go abroad, legally or illegally. The trend was always there. Doesn't mean that it just became hell now.

Differences are clear - not as many jobless before and not as desperate and even willing risk life.
Awami thugs are looting banks after banks in broad day light - started with Dr. Yunus Grameen Bank, then Sonali bank, Janata Bank, Basic bank, even Bangladesh central bank. Latest awami looting victim is Islami bank biggest bank in Bangladesh. That is just one sector.

No one can do any new business or get a government job unless NSI (dominated by awami cadre), DGFI (controlled by indian proxy) and awami political wing give green light based on awami political association. That is just another awami recipe of hell hole.

Anyone want to move one place in Dhaka to another, it takes minimum 2 hrs....that is a pure awami haven but hell for rest of Bangladehis.

want more...?

And you base this on?

Sonali bank was looted before AL came to power. There is some truth to what you wrote. But then again every govt in Bangladesh has looted Banks for money.

Before you needed Jamaati links to get a govt job and you need to give money to Mr.15% to start business. I guess the power shifted from ISI to RAW. Hence you are angered.

Idiotic statement. As expected from you. You favorite previous govt gave 0 attention to build new infrastructures. Hence all the problems now. The places where constructions are going on are indeed hellish but overall things have improved. If you want to complain about it blame it on you previous ISI backed govt.

Corruption is there and it has always been there. But Bridges are being built, new roads, flyovers, over bridges are being built, Metro rail is being constructed. And idiots like you complain about traffic jam can't you see all these things are being built to counter traffic jam?

Idiotic Jamaati fanboy.

it is expected from awami thugs to hide their exposure behind "Jamaat" label. That old trick but has no effect. Anything new you can add other than what you learned in awami dharmashala.

There is a country named Vietnam in the chart. You probably missed that one.

I did gave my reasoning despite calling you Jamaati. But here an illiterate ISI fanboy like you can't seem to come up with a reasonable reply.
