Replacing Pakistan Navy's Westland Sea King helicopters.

.
The Pakistani Navy should stay away from US and UK products....these are usually very high maintenance and short lived products. Also in case of conflict with India the sanctions that will no doubt be imposed on Pakistan by the US and UK will cripple these products.

US is known for making best quality products only shortcoming for Pakistan is that they are prone to sanctions making Pakistani military nearly paralyzed if they totally depend on them.

You mean, shortlived like the Sea Kings (Sikorsky is a US company) and the Type 21's? Or your P-3C Orions? Or F-16's?

:coffee:

I will ask again, from where this Sea-King Helicopters are operating from ship or Land, if from ship than the size of the Helicopter is important, here again the Z-9 would ideal.
Sea Kings operate from land and from AORs. S-60 Sea Hawk replaced SH-3 Sea King in the USN. Perry class can handle 2 Sea Hawk. For Sea King on/over Perry deck:

What about the high cost of maintenance ? And the fact that the US tends to only allow US companies to maintain the products ? The US does not favour co-operative manufacture and generally frowns upon unauthorized modification.
The apartheid era South African government and the Rhodesians made the mistake of using some US (and other NATO) products and then got screwed by the sanctions thus forcing them to create indigenous armaments industries.

@Selous US weapon systems usually have more life then any other country, just check the quality of their jet engines which are used in fighter jets and compare them with the 2nd best.

. .
@Selous practically major world powers are just trying to catch up with US in military tech, forget about getting ahead. Zumwalt DDG, F-22, B-2, THAAD, BMD etc are all practically deployed and way ahead in terms of tech then other major powers. if we have on & off relations with US it does not mean we become blind or bias.

You probably know more in this field so I will defer to to your judgement...but I do have a question: is this form of progress sustainable...this headlong rush after the newest technologies ?

Since WW2 US have maintained lead in tech and even USSR was not able to compete in terms of economy and military tech.

guys lets get back to the topic - sea kings.....

What high cost of maintenance? > show comparative numbers from trustworthy sources, please? Otherwise just hearsay.

Maintainance > See F-16 > Fokker (NL), SABCA (Belgium), Norway (Kongsberg), Denmark (Terma A/S) manufactured parts and subassemblies, Turkish Aerospace Industries > full licence production. If India had selected the F-16IN sixth F-16 production line would be built in India

Sea King > Sikorsky (US), United Aircraft of Canada, Westland (UK), Agusta (Italy), Mitsubishi (Japan)
AgustaWestland...... > Apache, Sea King

You only get embargoed because your do something stupid. Don't blame others for you own mistakes.

Unless you prefer totally ruthless deliveries > go to rogues, totalitarian states. (you really thinkg those are your friends? > being ruthless, they will eventually sell you out too)

As for that being US/Nato...
UN arms embargo on Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe)
In December 1966, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 232, which decided that all states shall prevent the ‘sale or shipment of arms, ammunition of all types, military aircraft, military vehicles and equipments and materials for the manufacture and maintenance of arms and ammunition’ to Southern Rhodesia.
The arms embargo was imposed in response to the unilateral declaration of independence by the white Rhodesians in 1965. This was the first mandatory arms embargo agreed by the UN Security Council.
In December 1979, satisfied with the progress towards the establishment of a ‘free and independent Zimbabwe’, the arms embargo was terminated by UN Security Council Resolution 460.

YEah., lots of nato. in 1966. In 1966, all French armed forces were removed from NATO's integrated military command, and all non-French NATO troops were asked to leave France. Leaving UK and US in a NATO minority on UNSC. Of non-permament members, only 1 is NATO (Turkey)
