MNA Sajid Mehdi chaired the committee meeting and was briefed about PCRET’s working. During the meeting, it was also discussed that for the last eight years, PCRET did not receive funds for any project. However, solar panels are tax-free.

Substandard Production:
Due to the substandard production of solar panels, the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) has demanded an internationally recognized laboratory in Islamabad. The laboratory will standardize the quality of manufacturing.

PCRET Achievements:
Lately, PCRET launched a solar power rickshaw with the running capacity of three hours. The rickshaw will be able to cover distance up to 70 km. Soon, PCSIR will launch electric wheelchairs and motorcycles.

The committee has high expectations for the renewable energy sector. The members of the committee are not fond of the conventional sources of energy. Conventional methods like dam construction are excessively expensive and time-consuming.

The committee has directed the Ministry of Science and Technology to hire employees on merit and submit a report.
