BBC News - Renegade China soldiers 'killed' after Jilin emergency

Three Chinese soldiers who fled their barracks armed with a rifle and hundreds of bullets are reported to have been killed.

A fourth soldier who also fled from the Jilin city base was captured by police, state media reported.

The deaths were confirmed by officials on a microblog website, and the escape was reported by the Communist Party mouthpiece, the People's Daily.

But later, reports on both websites appeared to have been removed.

The government frequently takes down news stories and blog posts in a process dubbed "harmonising" by web users.

As of Thursday, the website of state-run outlet Chinese Radio International still had a report describing the incident.

It said the four soldiers - aged between 18 and 23 - had been trapped by police in Yingkou city, about 300 miles (480km) from Jilin.

Three were shot and killed at the scene, and the fourth captured.

As the authorities searched for the soldiers, an alert was put out in Jilin for banks and jewellers in the city to close.

No reason has been given for the soldiers' actions.

The reason given by the Hong Kong based Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy quoted that...

"soldiers may have fled because of a recent order for the early discharge of soldiers with poor disciplinary records or who had entered service before turning 18 in violation of regulations. It said at least two of those involved were underage, and may have feared that their early discharges would lead to discrimination in future job searches."

...in other words, the Hong Kong based "Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy" are blaming China for the criminal activities of 4 violent renegade AWOL soldiers who are on a robbing spree using a stolen military rifle and nearly a thousand rounds of ammunition. That sure makes alot of sense, to blame China for the violent robberies committed by 4 army deserters supposedly because they are disgruntled about their job prospects. The "rifle" is more likely than not a machine gun considering the amount of rounds they took and also more likely than not that they used that machine gun in their robberies, which explains the provincial wide manhunt. The way this Human Rights activist/reporter embellished this tragedy into an anti-China story is a microcosm of inexcusably biased Western journalism.

One day lair, always liar, only low lives would believe words from such "Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy".

No matter when they will be discharged, they will be issued a certificate showing they are "honorably discharged from PLA", such a certificate is issued too all servicemen and women by default, you need to do something really wrong/stupid to avoid getting it.

The rifle they took was a type 95 assault. They carried about 700 rounds for three different rifle types. ( Possibly they can be used inter-changeably)

Apparently one was a sargeant aged 23 and all other three was in their teens. The older one may have been the ringleader.
