Religious differences break out again

The Indian ignornats should read about the politics of saffron and should not side with the liars, should not defend the illegal expansion of a illegal structure at the expense of own heritage.

The matter is in courts to decide the legality of the temple.. It's not Indian way to become a self declared judge and pronounce it illegal or legal.. So stop your twaddle about legality which I assure you our courts are in a much better position to decide.

Trust denies expansion of Bhagyalakshmi temple - Times Of India

"Old timers say the existing temple structure was erected along the eastern side of the iconic Charminar and its doors opened to devotees from around the area in the late 1960s. While the temple took a physical form only 50-odd years ago, folklore has it that a holy stone (more like a milestone) had been laid at the same site several years ago, most likely during the Quli Qutub Shah period. Laced with 'haldi' and 'kumkum', the stone soon came to be 'idolized' as a symbol of prosperity by Hyderabadis.

Academician Anand Raj Varma said communal tension over the temple had also evoked in the past after the stone was replaced with an idol of Lakshmi and a temporary shed built to give it the feel of a temple. "Even then, tension prevailed in the area. But it was way milder than what we are seeing now," Varma adds.

Many contradict the popular version of the age-old narrative and maintain that the temple had no existence of any sorts, until just a few decades back. Claims about it being as old as the Charminar too are completely 'baseless', they insist. "It was unnecessarily erected by some locals. There was nothing at the site before that," argues historian Narender Luther.

Ok I dont know if temple existed or not. I will not take side on whether its true or false.

but I have a different question unrelated to the above question.

if there is an empty space which is not owned by anybody. Then if someone builds teimple there what is the problems with that?

The only guy who should have problem is the owner of land, if his land is occupied forcefully without his consent for temple. Or if the temple is being built after replacing Charminar. Is is either of the two cases? If not then why the tensions? Isn't it Hindus or anyone has the right to take any space and built temple there?

I hope Muslims are not saying that since it is there area or they are in large number so they wont allow construction of ANY NEW temple. REALLY is that the real thing here?

I dont see how is it any community's concern if some other community builds its temple in some land which is not belonging to first community and if the land is taken from its owner by owner's consent or govt land if allotted by government. This is devoid of logic that you cannot built temple as Mosque in that area is much older. So there is no question of comparing the age of Charminar with the age of temple.

So given the above what is the Muslim community's concern if the temple is being built (or was bulit recently) in a land given by consent by the LAND OWNER? anyone please?

Violence breaks out in old Hyderabad, cops step up vigil Nov 16, 2012, 04.41 PM IST

HYDERABAD: Violence broke out once again near Charminar in the old city of Hyderabad on Friday over a temple row.

At least seven people were injured in stone pelting by an unruly mob, and baton charge by police.

Teargas shells were also fired by the police to disperse the mob, which set afire four vehicles and damaged several other vehicles, witnesses said.

Trouble broke out soon after Friday prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid when a large number of people coming out of the mosque tried to proceed towards Charminar to offer 'salam' at a religious symbol abutting the monument.
Policemen and paramilitary personnel, however, stopped them by setting up barricades.

Raising slogans against the police and demanding that restrictions be lifted, the protestors started pelting stones at policemen and attacking vehicles and shops.

The police resorted to baton charge and fired several teargas shells to disperse the mob, which was pelting stones from three sides of the Charminar.

Police said the situation has since been brought under control.

Additional reinforcements were rushed to sensitive areas around Charminar.

Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy reviewed the situation with top police officials. She appealed to people to cooperate in maintaining peace.

The communally sensitive old city had been witnessing sporadic incidents of violence for the last two weeks following a row over the Bhagylakshmi Temple abutting Charminar, which symbolizes the historic city. Muslim groups have been opposing attempts to expand the temple on the ground that it was illegal and had marred the beauty of the 400-year-old monument.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court Nov 5 had ordered status quo as on Oct 30.

However, the erection of a canopy over the temple structure, in alleged violation of the court orders last Sunday, triggered violent protests.

The government claimed that it was allowed only to implement court orders.

Accusing the Congress government of colluding with communal elements, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) withdrew support to the government.

The Hindu rightwingers have lot of support among the Sikh community of Hydrabad ... as the politically its a Muslim strong hold Sikhs & Hindus r very close here to counter them ... Even last time when Ram Navmi shobha Yatra was banned by the Government the Sikhs came with open support in it... not only that, they help in organizing it & Gurudwara was opened for Hindus crowds who ever came there to attend it & provided Langar seva... Even Tejindar pal singh Bhagga had attended the Yatra...

Tomorrow in Mumbai Sikh Community has announced that the Gurudwara will be open to who so ever comes to attend the Funeral of Balasheb from Distance Village ... in solidarity to the Protection Balasheb had given to Sikhs during the Sikh Riot...

1. India needs to stop oppressing its religious minorities be it:

- Muslims in Gujarat

- Christians in Orissa

- Sikhs in Punjab (as they did during the operation blue star genocide and the desecration of Amritsar leading to the death of Indira Gandhi).

- Dalits/untouchables (who though not technically non-Hindus have the oppression on them based on religious grounds).

2. If India does not stop oppressing its religious minorities and continues its polices of Hindu fascism it may face "Pakistanization".

We in Bangladesh do not want an unstable India next door to us as a stable Asia with trading and continent-wide prosperity is what we desire. However the Hindutva fanatics in India with their deep inferiority complex, burning hatred of all non-Hindus seem determined to make India another Pakistan which is now war-torn and unstable with people being killed every day in Karachi and several insurgencies.

If Hindutva fanatics and extremists like the radicals on this forum do realize their dream of destabilizing India and causing tension and bloodshed, I could even foresee people turning to the Maoists/Naxalites as the ultimate solution to creating a China-like state with mass land reform and the total subjugation of religious fundamentalism and extremism.

That is nice to know. Hopefully Hindus will repay this solidarity if needed.
