Rejoice! Amazon, eBay, PayPal may Soon Enter Pakistan

.
Not confirmed...
But I'm sure paypal might consider, since we have a pretty big number of freelancers.

However, for amazon and ebay, its going to be hard and its just not worth it, for them and us.

.
Actually, majority of the products on eBay actually ship to Pakistan.. Its just the question of payments. Once PayPal is here, eBay is here definitely.. As far as Amazon is concerned, they are a separate entity unlike eBay and PayPal so they may have issues.. But considering the online shopping trends in Pakistan they just might start operations.

From the link:

"Reportedly, Pakistan has been whitelisted by Financial Action Task Force (FATF) which means that Pakistan has taken steps against money laundering and terrorist financing as per international regulations, steps which previously lacked in the country, owing to which Pakistan was grey-listed. In turn of course, companies such as Amazon, eBay and PayPal did not want to operate in Pakistan. Rehman stated that the government will soon invite global tech companies including Amazon, eBay, and PayPal to start their operations in the country which would allow citizens to breathe a sigh of relief."

It will take more than just a change in the listing to entice those players to Pakistan. I hope it happens, and it will eventually, but will take some time still.

For what it's worth, this change happened way back in February and nothing has happened since then:

Update on AML/CFT improvements in Albania, Cambodia, Kuwait, Namibia, Nicaragua, Pakistan and Zimbabwe

The FATF congratulates Albania, Cambodia, Kuwait, Namibia, Nicaragua, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, for the significant progress made in addressing the strategic AML/CFT deficiencies earlier identified by the FATF and included in their action plans. These countries will no longer be subject to the FATF’s monitoring process under its on-going global AML/CFT compliance process. These countries will work with their respective FSRBs as they continue to further strengthen their AML/CFT regimes.

But the announcement by the govt. was made recently. I don't know much about the technicalities involved, but since the govt. brought it up, I hope they act upon it and soon. Don't want much, just PayPal though

. . .
Pakistan still does not have basic things like paypal, ebay, amazon ? Now thats a news to me.
Yeah me too.......and they seem so exited about it .
We already had the likes of Flipkart , Myntra , Snapdeal , Jabong which were well accustomed to the large Indian market and made huge profits only then did Amazon.in decided to setup in India . I doubt whether countries like Pakistan will ever see the light of Amazon .

Daraz. Pk and kamyu are also making huge profits here and that must've encouraged the likes of Amazon and ebay to set foot here finally.
