CHANDIGARH: Briefings, war games exercises inside operations room and restricted movement around Ambala Cantonment, which houses one the three offensive "strike corps" of the Army - all suggest that the offensive arm of the force is preparing itself for any eventuality.

Ambala-based 2 Corps, popularly called as Kharga Corps, possesses 50% of the Army's offensive capabilities and has the mandate to launch offensive strike onPakistan territory, in case of a war.

Sources also confirmed to TOI that the 2 Corps is also closely coordinating with the Indian Air Force, as it launches its operation supported by the air strike support. All field formations under the Corps, including armoured and mechanised formations, artillery division and air defence elements along with other supporting arms and services have also asked for readiness.

Even major roads in Ambala leading toward Kharga Corps headquarters and air force station have been blocked by the defence authorities for any civilian movement. "There are no orders of movement as was done during December 2001 in Operation Prakaram. But all the commanders of division and brigade formations under 2 Corps have been asked to maintain 100% preparedness so that forces remains alert and any order to these formations for movement does not come as a surprise for them," a high ranking officer of the Army's Western Commandsaid.

The 2 Corps is integrated with multiple formations including 14 (I) Armoured Brigade, an artillery brigade, air defence brigade, engineers brigade, a helicopter squadron, I-Armoured Division, 14 Rapid Division consisting Signal units and 22 Infantry Division (Ram division) at different locations.

Kharga has proved an effective weapon in various wars. In 1971 war, while positioned in West Bengal, it was Kharga Corps that broke Pakistan into two pieces. The elite corps was also deployed somewhere in the desert sector during Kargil conflict and Op Parakram following the attack on parliament.

It was shifted to Ambala in 1985.

The 2 Corps had conducted a full-fledged military exercise in April last year to validate the operational doctrines of the Strike Corps and to test various battle concepts. The focus of the exercise was on new and efficient ways of fighting a war in a synergized battlefield.

All major cores of PA are ready to face Indian aggression, we are not sleeping either. Because we know India is a wolf not lion.

What's the point of this article? B O R I N G!

An average Pakistani civilian is more armed than an Indian solider. Plus they are Muslims.

It would be stupid to invade Pakistan.

leave religion out of this.

Good Day all!

lol they only thing you can do is just dream about it. Why do you want to face an embarrassment just like 1965 ?

Pakistan is shaking in fear -

Facts

1. Pakistan stole 1/3 of Kashmir from a enemy that is almost seven times larger. 70 years later it still holds it.
2. Seven times larger India only managed to humble Pakistan on the back of 70 million Bangla Mukhtos and even then against a small force of 55k in "away game" in 1971.

This elite Indian Strike Corp can't do jack unless they can get the Bangla Mukhto's to team up with them.

Commander Indian Strike Corp - Ambala "aunitie can we pleaj get help from Bangla bhai Mukhtos namaskar?" and PM auntie replies "araaaaaaaaay me phinsh making mohchjli first".

O so you stole parts of Kashmir. Not sure why your countrymen keeps saying Kashmir belongs to them. Last I checked, you don't steal something that belongs to you. Silly people, should have consulted you first. Thanks for clearing the air.

Good Day to you!

Sheikh Rasheed has said India is so upset because it lost 171 Indian soldiers at Uri. If you look at Indian madness, it is actually disproportionate to its claimed 18 lives. Could it be a fact?

Using your logic. Using India's stance. If India has accepted that Kashmir actually belongs to Pakistan then let me know. I will change the wording.

*Official Indian position is the ruler of J & K "gifted" the state to India. Therefore all of J & K belongs to India. Thus to follow the Indian position Azad Kahmir is stolen property that belongs to India. Now come and get it. It is yours right?

Or did the Instrument of Accession 1947 only state that 3/4 shall go to India?

You used my logic before I even made a post? Maybe I should remind you that you posted first and I only quoted you?

Good Day to you and whoever made memory pills!

Can you tell the real fact ?

1. When your PA/raiders reached the Srinagar, at that time first flight with Indian soldiers landed in Srinagar. Now you can check Where is Srinagar and where is LOC and how much distance.

PAK tried to take Indian kashmir and fight many wards especially kargil /65 , even after that you still their where you are 70 yrs.

India never tried to take kashmir, if it want it will have taken in 71.

What ever you please feel to make fancy stories to satisfy your ego. You tried to duplicate this in Kashmir from last 30 yrs what India did in BD, but wait , oh man you still didnt learned a thing?
