JAIPUR/JAISALMER: Intelligence agencies and Special Operation Group in Rajasthan have come across facts which indicate that ISI was using the
India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan to push in lethal materials into India.

Investigations into the recent haul of arms and ammunitions, including about 15 kg of RDX from two locations in Barmer district, have revealed that the entire operation was the handiwork of ISI, which is now using members of Babbar Khalsa and a few absconding smugglers. The security agencies recovered over 6 kg RDX and a few China-made pistols and detonators on September 8, and another consignment, including 8.7 kg of RDX, on September 13.

Intelligence sources say it was a week-long operation by ISI, but preparations for it had begun almost two months ago. SOG and Intelligence Bureau got to know of the plans to smuggle in the consignment, after which the local police were alerted. It is believed that after getting a green light from the local ISI area commander, the consignment weighing 45 kg was sent from Karachi on August 24.

Two carriers, Fotia and Alia, belonging to Pakistan, were entrusted with the task of pushing the consignment containing 14.7 kg of ready-to-use RDX and other deadly items into Barmer border. They chose border observation post BKD in Bhabhute Ki Dhani to infiltrate the fencing along the international border.

They reached the Rathodon Ka Tala somewhere between border pillar No 855 and 856 and 5-6 km away from BKD from Gandi Ki Thani on the Pak side and met the notorious smuggler Soda Khan alias Lunia who was to deliver the consignment to the two terrorists of Babbar Khalsa around 7.30 on September 8.

"They had attempted to smuggle the consignment through Jaisalmer border in the second week of August, trying to take advantage of the fact that the security forces would focus on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Barmer,'' said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity. Lunia and Nazeer had reached a place in Jaisalmer to collect the consignment using a Bolero car, but could not succeed. After this, the plan was changed and it was decided to push the consignment into Barmer which led to delay in the earlier plan.

When Lunia was arrested, he kept insisting that there were just eight packets, but as the investigators already knew about the consignment, they confronted him with the information and succeed in recovering the rest of ammunition on Sunday,'' the officer added

This was good one. But unfortunately for all the stories which were reported by Indian media and our Pakistani friends were claiming to be Indian propaganda have been provided with links from western media also in some time.... Isnt it?

It shows only one thing the number of packets Indian police was suppose to recover should have match the number of packets the Indian police planted.

How much security PM requires? I think someone in Indian police is desperately looking for promotion and is promoting his "achievement"... so got promoted in Barmer?

We can beat around the bush, dismiss TOI and all but the fact is that a large quantity of RDX has been found at the Border and also coupled with the recent firing along the IB the security agencies need to be very careful.

With the focus tightly on the LOC, there will be attempts from the IB.
