Rawalpindi: In order to transform Rawalpindi into a model city of Punjab, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) have devised a joint working strategy, a news source reported.

The final decision in this regard was taken on Sunday (December 15) during a meeting jointly attended by the high-ups of the above-mentioned authorities. According to details, these authorities aim to launch 11 beautification projects in the city.

To facilitate this measure, the departments will arrange funds for these projects on their own, while the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) would provide the remaining funds. Moreover, the provincial and federal governments would disburse funds from the allocations reserved for development projects expected to be carried out in the constituencies of both national and provincial assembly lawmakers.

- Make Rawalpindi clean and green
- Beautify the city’s all entry points
- Beautify all four ways and intersections in the city
- Manicure and expand the greenbelts
- Remove encroachment from the city
- Plant fruit-bearing plants
- Paint public buildings in same colour
- Install modern digital traffic signals
- Remove old billboards and install new ones symmetrical in size and design
- Introduce a new traffic management system
- Old streetlights will be fixed and/or replaced
- All historical buildings will be rehabilitated
- Incorporate Pothohari Culture in the beautification projects.
