Kandahar's police chief General Abdul Raziq on Friday spoke out about elements within the National Unity Government and accused them of wanting to destabilize Kandahar province.

Speaking at an event on Friday, Raziq said that these elements want to destabilize Kandahar, like that of Helmand and Uruzgan provinces.

“Kandahar's insecurity is not by accident but there are some elements from within central government who are working on the process,” Raziq said.

“Our province's talented people are not hired in government and the war in southern provinces has been imposed and this is intentional,” said Lalai Hamidzai and MP.

Meanwhile, a number of participants at the event said the central government is ignoring the southern provinces.

“Our talented people from the south west zone have been fired and no chance of work is given to them and the government pays no attention to the south west provinces,” said Hamdullah Nazik, a former NDS director for Helmand province.

“All girl’s schools are closed in the province, our health sector situation is very bad, no construction is being done in the province and the reason behind all this is the central government ,” said Daoud Gulzar, a presidential adviser.

The participants warned that if the central government does not pay serious attention to the threats raised by the Taliban in Helmand, Uruzgan and Zabul the security situation will get worse and people's trust in government will diminish.

Recap of the 90s? Warlords now flexng muscles against each other.
Had they focused on building institutions in Afghansitan instead of empowering WArlords tagging them as officials. Afghansitan would have been a nutral and prosperous country

The problem is if they didn't give the warlords official positions the government wouldn't have survived six months after 2001. I agree there should have been much more done to sideline or assimilate them as soon as possible though.

Dear sir if a country cannot be ruled by will of their people (Vote) or by an institution governed by People oc that country recruited without any prejudice (Technocracy)

Then is there any reason to force the inhabitants of that country to love together?
This is a pathetic state of affair if you have to feed Warlords to form a government.
There is no reason for a government to exist at all.
Instead let the people live in smaller states in groups of people who associate with each other and who can effectively govern themselve either via democracy or technocracy.

If this guy is a general, than his officers and men must be donkeys and dogs. Just look at him.

Perhaps, but Pakistan should not underestimate her enemies.
