Is HAL Involved In MRO Activities Related To Predator UAS?

That’s exactly what may well be happening, if one takes a look at the poster above (that was publicly showcased by HAL during the DEFEXPO 2012 expo last April in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan), which clearly shows the unarmed version of the Predator UAS along with the Searcher Mk2 and Heron-1 UAS. And since none of the three armed services of India are known to be operating the Predator, then the only other possible operator is the Aviation Research Centre of the Union Cabinet Secretariat’s Research & Analysis Wing (R & AW).

Shown below are photos of an unarmed Predator UAS that was on display at an aerospace and
defence expo in South Africa earlier this year.

That’s right. Four Predators were acquired at the same time as the Pakistan Army was supplied with two Griffin Eye manned ISR platforms.

The reason the ‘desi’ mass-media folks aren’t aware of it is because they can’t tell the woods from the trees. They would have known had they paid attention to the exhibits at DEFEXPO 2012. But during this expo they were all running around like headless chicken for chasing both Ravi Rishi & V R S Natarajan & spending all their time at the BEML-TATRA pavilion! Will upload in the near future the relevant posters showing the Predator UAS that were displayed at HAL’s pavilion during DEFEXPO 2012.

is anyone aware that US-supplied unarmed Predator-A MALE-UAVs have been in service with an Indian intelligence-gathering agency for more than eight years? I have illustrations to prove it.

HAL even showed its involvement with the Predator’s MRO activities in a poster during DEFEXPO 2012. So I guess that this expo was after all not that lacklustre, as claimed by some ‘desi’ journalists

It certainly is intriguing. Unless there is an Indian operator of the Predator HAL really has no buisness in having such facilities to MRO the PREDATORS. It is not beyond reason to assume that RAW's (an incredibly secretive organisation) aviation wing (ARC) operators platforms without our knowing. They operate many unmarked a/c for intel gathering and this is unknown to all but a select few.

Prasun can be quite hit and miss- to be fair he is more often right then he is wrong. And he has been proven right again and again, so who knows............

I think the answer is much simpler, far more mundane.

Even the superpower has limits to its funds. It may just be that the operations have been out-sourced. Given Obama's public stand, there is good reason for silence :p:

It's hard to buy. If HAL has to do with anything as article said we should have seen our own UCAV in services. But seeing the development pace of Rustums ....... It might just be a theory and "poster" was just mean to elaborate concept like it was for AMCA in same DEFEXPO

.
Given that its Prasun chorgupta, I'd rather take it with a bucketload of salt.

Either some graphic designer seriously messed up, which as usual, was overlooked by the babus or it exists and some babu messed it up by putting it up there.

Though, I wouldn't put this system being operational out of the window. RAW has enough assets both in air and space to take imagery. The high altitude imagery I know for a fact exists with very 'interesting' clarity capabilities.

Come on you Ppl...just on a basis of poster we can't infer we have predator...remember past goof ups...we even have shown Jf-17 and many other foriegn equipment in our display by mistake ........:azn:

But think about it.. if predator is in our kitty that means all the drone strikes that are happening in our dear host's country may not essentially be ....er...US backed. ;)

Oh man .. this one surely takes the cake ..

]I don't think its appropriate to call Prasun a liar just becoz he posted a comparison of LCH v/s WZ-19
and showed Z-19 is superior. And thats true.

The LCH we see today is not really the tank-hunter IA wanted, but the UAV and cruise-missile hunting
helo that IAF wanted. The real ground-attack LAH is yet to arrive. The Z-19 at the other hand is
completely designed for a light infantry support/anti-tank role, unlike LCH where air-combat versus
UAV/UCAVs and other enemy helos is a prime objective.

And pray tell me how is it true? The WZ-19's specs are not even officially shown out. It is not even listed with comparable gunships around the world and the only way we know of its existence is through Chinese posters or Chinese website links.

The LCH is one of the best in its league when compared to similar class of helicopters.

Funny you speak thus.

Lol, that's really funny dude. Cruise missile hunting? really? Isn't that the job for quick reaction short range SAMs.

LCH as it is now, has turret mounted machine guns, can fire unguided rockets and can fire AGTMs. What else does a combat helicopter need?

Few Predators in Indian arsenal will not surprise anyone. As we will be operating the best US weapons like C-17, P-8, C-130J, Apache Block III, even offered latest gen BMD, Aegis, F-35 and so forth.

But this is a big blunder from HAL, if they have released maintenance info of Predator along with Searcher Mk2 and Heron-1.
