RAW officer arrested by CBI for taking bribe

NEW DELHI: In a first of its kind incident, a senior RAW officer was arrested by CBI for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs one lakh from a Chennai-based manufacturer.

Dr A S Narayan Rao, working as a scientist in the technical division of RAW, was arrested by CBI from a hotel in Karol Bagh last night when he was allegedly taking the amount from the manufacturer, CBI sources said.

Rao had allegedly demanded Rs eight lakh as a bribe for clearing the export licence of the Chennai-based firm. Rs one lakh was the first installment of the bribe amount.

This is possibly for the first time that a serving officer of RAW - an organization responsible for gathering external intelligence - has been arrested by the CBI, sources claimed, adding that searches were conducted and documents pertaining to the Chennai-based company seized.

I'm glad he was investigated and arrested for breaking the law. I'm also very pleased that this case has been brought into the public media elucidating the fact that heavyweights in the clandestine services are not above the law (even if it was a "white collar" crime). This is exactly how maturing developing nations should conduct themselves.

Do you really mean it or you just want to Make RAW Look Innocent by saying its incompetent.

RAW is active in Pakistan through Afghanistan, and they are Involved in Baluchistan.

R&AW's objectives :

* To monitor the political and military developments in adjoining countries, which have direct bearing on India's national security and in the formulation of its foreign policy.

* Secondly, to mould international public opinion by using a strong and vibrant Indian diaspora.

In the past, following the Indo-China war and due to what were volatile relations between India and Pakistan, R&AW's objectives had also consisted the following:

* To watch the development of international communism and the schism between the two communist giants, the Soviet Union and China. As in other countries, both the powers had direct access to the communist parties in India.

* To make the control and limitation of the supply of military hardware to Pakistan, mostly from European countries, the USA and China, a high priority. wave:

I totally agree with you on this, RAW is responsible for 26/11 It was their Job to save India against such actions as they are paid for this but they were too Focused on Pakistan at that Time.
