Looks like a random rich kid. He got what was coming to him and showed a total lack of respect for authority, and probably thought his riches make him aloof of such laws.

Case dropped against millionaire accused of running over cop’s foot with his Ferrari

The criminal case is getting dropped, but the civil battle is just starting for a hunky young millionaire accused of driving his bright red Ferrari over a cop’s foot in SoHo last summer.

Manhattan prosecutors agreed yesterday to drop the misdemeanor assault case against Julien Chabbott, 29 — the former boyfriend of blonde reality star Stephanie Pratt — explaining that while the cop’s injury was painful at the time, it wasn’t serious in the long term.

Chabbott’s charges will be dismissed altogether in six months providing he serves five days community service, a Manhattan Criminal Court judge ruled.

“The only known contact with the motor vehicle was minimal,” assistant district attorney Ariel Pizzitola told the judge. “The injuries to the police officer, though painful, did not result in a bone fracture or long-term impairment,” she explained.

But the cop and the millionaire remain at loggerheads over the August, 2012 incident, in which Chabbott either intentionally or accidentally rolled forward in his quarter-million-dollar 458 Spider sports car as he was getting a parking ticket outside the Mercer Hotel.

Chabbott, who owns the social media site Line Snob, left criminal court yesterday insisting through his lawyer that he never ran over the cop’s foot — and that his Spider wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Medical records and an amateur YouTube video taken of the incident shows that the the cop “fabricated” injuries, said the defense lawyer, Benjamin Brafman.

“The heart of this case was compromised by us working frame by frame through the video with the DA’s office,” Brafman said.

“We demonstrated that the contact was incidental,” Brafman said. “The police officer claimed the car ran over his foot, but you can see it in the video — the car lurches an inch or two forward, and grazes the pant leg of the officer.”

As for why the car moved forward, “It’s a Ferrari — it almost moves by itself. You wouldn’t believe it,” Brafman told a reporter.

Told of the looming criminal dismissal, civil lawyer Sal Strazzullo said that he will sue Chabbott within 30 days.

“The video clearly shows the car running over my client’s foot,” Strazzullo said. “Thank god my client wasn’t hurt more,” the civil lawyer said. “I mean, my god, it’s a car.”

Strazzullo slammed prosecutors for agreeing to drop the case. “I guess the DA thinks that running your car into a cop is the same thing as jumping a turnstile,” he said.

This is a very old video. Nor was this any prince. It was probably a kid of an wealthy Arab/Middle Easterner or someone who loaned this Ferrari which you can usually do for pay.

It is only made into news because this person was likely an Arab/Middle Easterner/Muslim. Probably the same reason why the thread starter did the same. Had this been some rich spoilt German kid doing something similar (and this happens all the time everywhere) he would not have created the thread.

The thread title is inaccurate/fake as well. A moderator should deal with this.

@waz how come the OP has generated the title right from his ...? when he does not even know about the identity of man..nor does the video say anything about it.

. .
Everybody hates the NYPD.

This coop (probably the son of some illegal Mexican migrant, lol) really feels powerful in that video. All those years of bullying that he now can unleash on a civilian in a expensive car that he will never be able to buy.

A joke. Glad that the case was dropped regardless of the drivers identity.

Is every person carrying the name "Al Saud" after his/her name, by definition a member of royal family, thus highly eligible for Governmental positions and wealth or both? It always confuses me, there must be thousands of people.

Hey! Half of the crime thriller novels I read are about the NYPD. Fuggedabouttit! Leave them alone.

I am told that the NYPD is based on the Gotham City Police Department model? Is that true? :D

The name of man in the video is Julien Chabbott..neither an Arab nor even a Muslim but his appearance has brought the phobia out of the OP and he produced the title from his rear.

Everybody hates the NYPD.
That's true.. though I never ran into a problem with them partially due to my short stays and partially because I'm too careful but the overall image of the NYPD is negative..

The family is estimated to comprise 15,000 members, but the majority of the power and wealth is possessed by a group of only about 2,000.[6][7]

Only the direct descendants (male-line) of Ibn Saud are entitled to the style of HRH. Cadet branches descending from other lines of Muhammad ibn Saud use HH.

Origins and early history
The earliest recorded ancestor of the Al Saud was Mani' ibn Rabiah Al-Muraydi who settled in Diriyah in 1446–1447 with his clan, the Mrudah.[13] Although the Mrudah are believed to be descended from the Rabi'ah tribal confederation, it is unclear whether they trace their ancestry to the Banu Hanifa or the 'Anizza branches of the Rabi'ah.[13] Mani was invited by a relative named Ibn Dir. Ibn Dir was the ruler of a set of villages and estates that make up modern-day Riyadh.[14][15][16] Mani's clan had been on a sojourn in east Arabia, near al-Qatif, from an unknown point in time. Ibn Dir handed Mani two estates called al-Mulaybeed and Ghusayba. Mani and his family settled and renamed the region "al-Diriyah", after their benefactor Ibn Dir.[17][18]

The Mrudah became rulers of al-Diriyah, which prospered along the banks of Wadi Hanifa and became an important Najdi settlement. As the clan grew larger, power struggles ensued, with one branch leaving for nearby Dhruma, while another branch (the "Al Watban") left for the town of az-Zubayr in southern Iraq. The Al Migrin became the ruling family among the Mrudah in Diriyah.

The name of the clan comes from Sheikh Saud ibn Muhammad ibn Muqrin who died in 1725.[19]

So obviously the branch in Iraq has no power nor do most others in fact. Only the branches descending directly from Muhammad ibn Saud have any power/influence and that power is mostly confined to the many descendants of Ibn Saud and the heads of the Saud al-Kabir, the Al Jiluwi, the Al Thunayan, the Al Mishari and the Al Farhan branches.

Most of them live a civilian life and do not receive any benefits. MbS (current Crown Prince) for instance, his mother, was a civilian but of course from a noble and respected family. It is not uncommon for the many branches to have intermarried with ordinary locals - obviously mostly from respected/noble families and clans/tribes but not only.

The name of man in the video is Julien Chabbott..neither an Arab nor even a Muslim but his appearance has brought the phobia out of the OP and he produced the title from his rear.

Well, that is even funnier if true then! Thanks for the information. More reason for a moderator to change this nonsense thread title.

The birthrate of the royals has been higher than the Saudi population as a whole (~2.17 births per childbearing woman in 2016).

That data is unlikely to be accurate. There is almost nobody in my family, relatives, distant relatives, friends, colleagues etc. who have just 1 sole sibling. Most have at least 3-4. Personally I have almost twice as many siblings.

This data must be from a specific group of women or women below a certain age. That would not surprise me if that was the case as women in KSA marry much later than earlier and many prioritize their studies (over 50% of all Saudi Arabian women have university degrees - more than their male counterparts) over early marriage. In other words they prefer to wait after getting a degree. Increasingly more expensive dowry's etc. also pose a challenge as well as economic considerations as it is not cheep to provide for a large family for many average families who want to give their children a good education, living standards etc.

It is true... see below

@waz @The Eagle can you kindly change this nonsense thread title now that it was established that this individual was no prince, let alone any Saudi Arabian, Arab, Middle Easterner or even a Muslim!
