Ramdev keen to introduce yoga in Pakistan

If a Muslim pray five times a day with all the Sunnah and Nafil Rakats then no other exerciser needed to maintain a healthy life style.

If some one into intense training then I recommend martial art(Taekowndo, hapkido) with weight training otherwise those interested in meditation is better of with tai chi over yoga.

Ramdev character look very unpleasant.

Zakir sahab all the martial arts has origin in india, and in ancient india it was called as "Nihyuddha", later on through Buddhism it got transferred to all eastern countries(china, japan) so you should avoid all the martial arts as well.

learn a lession : knowledge having no boundary, understand there is only 2 major thoughts of religion Dharmic and Abrahimic, and only in Dharmic religions you will find concept of martial arts, which you have mentioned

check it out
World Niyuddha Federation (Reg.)

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's like China patenting paper and glue. And Koreans asking royalty for practicing Tae Kwando.

What he means to say that the new forms of yoga like iyenger yoga, vikram yoga need to be patented...its same like china develops a new kind of paper quality and and want to patent it.

and the so called representatives to god head of every religion is corrupt, i'll say 90% sadhu, pope, mullah in every religion is corrupt. now leave those so called sadhus, mullahs, popes and proceed for knowledge sharing.

I think its to do with the word Om that most hindu yoga teachers make to recite as a warm up. but that is not necessarily the word to be used.. Any other word that relaxes you and brings peace to mind can be used..

Yes Karan.. you are right.. people do have perception that at the begining and end .. people should recite "OM" which is wrong.. Once I was suggesting a "Gori" to do some Yoga for fitness she come up with the same statement... While that is not true.. Yoga is like having different exercises for different body parts... If one's religion doesn't allow then he can skip this part and carry on with other "aasan" of Yoga....

And yes Namaaz is also a good exercise...

Please read my posts 80 and 92. I have ackweledged the origin of martial art from ancient Bharat but tried to draw a clear distinction between yoga and mordern martial art. Mordern martial arts are thought from the angle of pure self defence and fitness in west and Islamic country thus no issue with islamic value whearas not in the case of Yoga. Yoga still got some Orthodox Hindu elements in it. I am encuraging muslims to engage in Mordern Martial art instead of yoga.

Well yoga's style and position technique may be uneasy to Muslims mainly women however soft martial art like tai chi may be better suited with people of Muslim back ground.

Modern martial art emphasis more on self defense rather than ancient religious ritual though Chinese monk still practice traditional version from religious angle in temple which is haram in Islam.

I know martial art may have originated from ancient bharat however it has mature in china and then spread to other oriental nations like japan, Korea. I am into martial art and practice since teen age.

Zakir, I'd say Yoga is much more than just a way to get fit. I have tried it and its very closely related to meditation. Apart from giving you a flexible body, it certainly gives you a level of mental calmness.

Personally Yoga is pretty slow for me. I am more of a sports guy. Untill I don't discharge half a liter of sweat I don't feel like I have worked out. :)

Now, this I will agree with......

You have to watch the second part because that has interviews with abuse victims of the "godman"

I am personally not a fan or disciple of the Puttaparthi Sai Baba but I know of many people who are devout believers in the man. So your ridiculing him is not necessarily fair since you would not like anyone ridiculing your faith. The child molestation cases are a blot but as far as 'miracles' go, all religions have associated mythologies which are laughable if seen literally. As long as religion or faith is used constructively, I don't see why anyone should be ridiculed.

Again, I don't believe or have faith in his godliness but you should see the amount of social work his ashram has done. Through their faith (I can argue about its validity), his disciples (across nationalities and races), top doctors and teachers come and perform "seva" at his charity hospitals and colleges. Philosophically, service to mankind is service to god. Which is why he becomes acceptable.

Yoga could be un-Islamic just to think about it: Yoga does name their movements based on Hindu Gods and this definately is Haram because it is like propogation of the belief of Hinduism. I have seen the tape on Tai Chi Chuan and it is somewhat unacceptable. However, TAI CHI CHUAN is not propogating a deity rather it is an anti-deity like Confucianism and original Buddhism. They problem could lay in the worship of self. Since, they try to attain self-enlightenment.

Yoga is Un-Islamic unless they change the names of the movements to something neutral(if a deity is mentioned).

Tai Chi Chuan derives from Taoism. However, none of the movements mention any deity(This is the info I derive from the videotape).

I will now post some info from websites in explaining the origins of each:
