Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's speech at the meeting of the Home Ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries in Islamabad on Thursday was blacked out. Media outlets were barred from covering it, after he slammed Pakistan's stance on terrorism in a variety of ways.

Probably the biggest snub from Singh to Pakistan came in the form of the statement: "There should be no glorification of terrorists as martyrs." This came in light of Pakistan choosing to mark a day for what it called was the "martyrdom" of self-styled Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, who was killed in Jammu and Kashmir a few weeks ago.

He also said just "condemnation of terrorism is not enough," in a swipe at regular statements from Pakistan where they condemn terrorist attacks, but there is rarely any overt sign of the State machinery acting against those responsible.

He had started off by saying: "There should be strongest of action not only against terrorists but also against organisations, individuals and nations who support terror." This was a clear indication at Pakistan, which has been known to export terror to India, and Hafiz Saeed, who organised protests all across the country against India's actions in Kashmir.

Saeed, a man wanted by both the United States and India, is roaming free in Pakistan, and also organised protests against Singh when he arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for the SAARC meet. Saeed, founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, has joined hands with the Islamic State group in Pakistan, according to Afghan authorities.

Singh also said: "There is no good or bad terrorism. Terrorism is terrorism." This was in retaliation to Pakistan's statement from a few years ago that there was a "good Taliban" and a "bad Taliban," and that the Pakistan authorities were supporting the former.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh is in Islamabad for SAARC meet. (PTI)

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN: Home Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a stern message to Pakistan from its soil as he said at the SAARC summit in Islamabad: "There should be strongest action not only against terrorists but also against nations who support terrorism."

In a speech that was blacked out by Pakistan media, Mr Singh also said that "there should be no glorification of terrorists as martyrs" - a reference to the lionizing in Pakistan of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, who was killed by security forces in Kashmir on July 8.

Mr Singh's speech was not aired by Pakistan's state-run PTV, which was the only media allowed to cover the conference ; Indian crew were not allowed to shoot it either.

Mr Singh's visit - the first by an Indian leader after the January Pathankot terror attack blamed on Pakistan-based terrorists - has been clouded by visible signs of bitterness between the two countries, especially over a series of provocative comments emerging from Islamabad on Kashmir and Wani.

This morning, he barely shook hands with his Pakistani counterpart Nisar Ali Khan as they met for the first time before the SAARC meeting. They barely touched their hands before Mr Singh walked off towards the meeting venue.

Even then, members of the Indian media were kept at a distance by Pakistani officials, which led to a verbal clash between officials of the two sides.

Later, Mr Singh reportedly did not attend lunch hosted by Mr Khan.

As Mr Singh arrived in Islamabad yesterday, anti-India protests in various cities featured terrorists like Hizbul Mujahideen's Syed Salahuddin and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed of the Lashkar e Taiba, who roams free in Pakistan. At a rally in Lahore, Hafiz Saeed lashed out at Pakistan government's decision to "welcome" Mr Singh.

The home minister rode to his hotel in a chopper as part of the "presidential level security" arranged for him following India's assertion that his protection is Islamabad's responsibility.

While Saeed was part of protests in Lahore, the wife of Yasin Malik of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front joined a hunger strike in Islamabad.

Even while hosting a top Indian minister, Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif escalated his India-baiting and made more provocative statements on Kashmir.

This is India's policy from a long time...........that tell a lie to the world so many times untill people start believing it is true.

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday blacked out Rajnath Singh's address to SAARC home ministers' meet+ in Islamabad.

Media was not allowed to cover Singh's speech at the SAARC meeting. Not only Indian media, even Pakistan's private TV news channels were barred from telecasting Singh's speech.

Addressing the SAARC meeting, Rajnath called for tough action against terrorism+ and countries supporting it, saying terrorists should not be glorified as "martyrs".

"There is no good or bad terrorism. Terrorism is terrorism. There should be no glorification or eulogising of terrorists+ as martyrs," Singh said.

The ongoing strain in Indo-Pak relations was evident at the SAARC interior/home ministers' conference+ when home minister Rajnath Singh came face- to-face with his Pakistani counterpart Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan for the first time on Thursday and the two leaders barely shook hands

As Singh arrived at the venue+ of the conference at the posh Serena Hotel in Islamabad, Khan was at the gate to receive the dignitaries. The two leaders barely touched their hands, not even a formal handshake, before Singh moved ahead to enter the meeting hall.

Both Rajnath Singh and Chaudhary Nisar also skipped the lunch at the meeting venue.

Not a big deal........ It is the prerogative of host to decide.....

If his speech was not supposed to be heard, then he should not have been invited in first place......

I feel it is time to dissolve SAARC, We should not waste the time of other countries and their leaders......

Yes, by blacking out the speech they just confirmed to the world that they have lot to hide. Next time they call for talks we should remind them about black out and tell them they are not mature enough to take part in talks when they indulge in such cheap tricks.

Poor SOB came all the way to Pakistan just to bark on camera and they denied him the opportunity .

Its only pakistani govt barred pakistani people from hearing him.
