Rajasthan Nuclear Plant Makes History, Runs Uninterrupted for Over 2 Years

Few days back we heard a similar news about Tarapur Automic Power Plant (TAPP). Now it seems our Rawatbhata frnds have caught up. Looks like I am up for a party !!!

I have never been to any foreign Nuclear Power Plants so I cannot say how our differs from theirs, but the numbers tell the math. Plus there will be some who point out that safety was compromised to achieve this chest humping figure, but what they tend to forget is, safety in these kind of organization is not a supplementary stuff but a building block. More than often safety is supervised and administered by automated systems with our dear homo sapiens in advisory roles. Hence the name given "Fail Safe". I won't rattle nonsense any more, but for those who dare question safety, beware !

After reading "The power of promise" by MV Ramanna, my perception of Nuclear Power Generation in India have changed. What ever said and done, the cost of generating, running these reactors, finding fuels, processing fuel, processing spent fuel etc etc is too great. DAE, AEC and NPCIL quote that Nuclear power will be too cheap to meter has in fact become too costly to matter anymore.

Recently an american analyst praised Indian Nuclear program like anything. He said that Indian Nuclear program is very diversed and unique. No other program in world can come close except the one of Russia.

And 900MW and 1000MW Indigenous Reacotors are on Design board. 190MW reactor Design by upscaling 85MW arihant rector is also in development. It will be Used in Nuclear powered AC.
