As of yesterday, the latest news out of New Delhi is that they are seriously considering canceling the deal on Rafales and going with more SU-30's.

The Russians are in dire need of $$$$ and they've offered SU-30 (Advance version) with TOT at a super cheaper price tag, that's almost half the price per jet.

Before the entire India goes nuts on me, please wait and see if this news breaks out on your media within the next 48 hours. Better yet, if anyone on here is from the higher rankings within the IAF, they might be able to confirm. So, no trolls please as this isn't a troll news.

No such news in concerned circles. A deal is in works, but that has nothing to do with Fighter aircrafts.

Keep watching. If it breaks out, do post on here. Its confirmed that these discussions have happened last few days. May also be to pressurize France in giving out certain missile packages that they didn't want to give out.

At least half the order will get diverted to Russian make planes (not necessarily Su 30's though) which will be available much faster than the French Jets. But atleast 2 squads of Rafales are a done deal.

Reports in media seem to be a pressure tactic. Dassault is sending one "empowered" gentleman to take the negotiations forward. Such reports may have been planted to send some signals.

BTW, just for disclosure, I am hearing it from my school batchmate in the finance ministry.. so things are at an advanced stage it seems. What I heard was that Russian ACs are definitely in the offing. The impact of their induction on the rafale order will depend on other items like LCA Mk 2, AMCA and FGFA progress.
