I am against buying such expensive aircraft for BAF. I am for inducting J-10D with Chinese engine. Both France and Britain have good defense relations with India and that's a matter of concern for us. Only China has strategic interest in Bangladesh because of our border with India. J-10D is cheap which means we can buy more J-10D aircraft with the same amount of money required to buy just 16 RAFALE/EUROFIGHTER. We must not push China away.

Gripen maybe a better jet for Bangladesh. Modern, affordable and non-Chinese. Buying a jet from the country linked to fast fashion, could be part of a larger deal. It would also allow Bangladesh to stay out of a dependency on India for Spare parts and maintenance support. The Swedes may give a good deal, they look desperate to secure a deal after losing the Finish competition.

J-10 maybe similarly priced, but politically it won’t help Bangladesh’s business prospects, in the west.

The Burmese operate the JF-17 and China may not want to see two planes made by the same company from its country duke it out.

Finally, getting the Gripen may open up exercises Bangladesh could join and gain experience for the BAF. I could imagine the BAF gripens exercising with nations from Japan in the east, all the way to the US in the west, similar to Thai or South African Gripens. Even a couple dozen Gripen NG (for probably the cost of a dozen Rafales or Eurofighters) with their sortie generation rates could make it a deadly addition to the BAF. Same weapons on the Gripen as the other euro-canards, as well as a modern EW suite.

Considering the sortie generation rates, 24-36 Gripens (or two squadrons) could replace both the 8 Mig-29s and 36 F-7s. It’s quality and quantity.

Even if Myanmar operates the Su-30, the Gripen was designed to combat the Flankers specifically.

West Bengal barely has anything strategic to be targeted, india's economic , financial and industrial strength lies in the South. bangladesh is militarily weak and has a tiny economy, any war with india will end poorly for the leaders in dhaka, I doubt if the BAF can even get enough time to evacuate your leadership and save them from destruction. The eastern command of the indian army alone which is just a fraction of our total forces has 10 times the firepower of the entire Bangladesh army.
Indian Navy can bloackade your entire country with a single carrier battle group and a couple of SSKs patrolling your waters and the best you can do is bring a couple of patrol boats to put up a fight against our Guided missile destroyers

In the current scenario Bangladesh cannot and will not be able to produce any nuclear weapons without bankrupting itself like Pak and North Korea. Indian army's XXXIII corps in Siliguri with 3 divisions and artillery, 2 armoured brigades has more firepower and better logistics capability than entire Bangladesh army . XXXIII corps is not even the most powerful corps in the indian army. Let alone the real deal like IInd strike corps , X corps, XI corps and XXI corps
