For the first time, Rafael confirms it is developing building blocks to be used in the companys project for the 6th generation air-to-air missile.
David Shtemer, general manager of Rafaels missile division, says that the Stunner missile developed for the Davids Sling system is the basis for any future advanced air-to-air missile that the company develops.
We offered a new air-to-air missile, but without an initial client and the necessary funding, we can't start the project, Shtemer said.
In the interim, Rafael developed sensors for the new missile.
Due to its shape, the Stunners warhead is called "dolphin head," which allows more than one sensor to be installed on the warhead.
The dolphin head will be the front part of every new advanced air-to-air missile that Rafael develops. The unique shape of the warhead allows the two sensors to work simultaneously, even in extreme conditions.
