Racism in China - A Chinese museum paired Africans with animals

.
I'm sure there's a context to it and possibly totally contrary to what the report made it out to be. At a glance, it seems like the exhibition paired people's facial expressions with the animals' to maybe elaborate how good a friend they are to each other. Pretty much I can't think of a human who would feel offended if you told them their angry/happy face/voice resembled a lion's/tiger's.

The West should dig deeper to find something negative about China.

. . .
these are aftermaths of fascism . what state propagates, the citizen believe and follow blindly as they dont have any choice and liberty . under such circumstances , everything is possible .
This 19th century tier white supremacist propaganda

. . . . . .
Africans? How do you know they are Africans? Not all Africans are black. Generalizing a bit, aren't you?

Not all _____ are _____, phrase can theoretically be applied to anything. you can't group a continent or a sub continent but you can generalize the majority. The continent Africa is predominantly black.
Nonetheless, as an "African":pleasantry:, I find this stuff absolutely hilarious. Stop being so sensitive for other people.

This is cringe , that's a museum not a 10year olds trolls science project.its supposed to be organised by the experts on the field . They are clearly implying modern black people are primitives instead of using pics of real cave men

This is the definition of racism.

rac·ism
ˈrāˌsizəm/
noun
  1. prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
I don't see how this museum is racist in any-way. It's comedic, and I like it.

Implying certain race of people are primitive apes is racist you don't need a double PhD in psychology to figure that out .Africans, Chinese, Americans ,Europeans all evolved from apes.

Info about the exhibition,

The special exhibit is called "This is Africa" portraying the works of Chinese photographer Yu Huiping, which are aimed at giving visitors a sense of "primitive life" in Africa through the interplay of humans, animals and nature. Yu, the vice-president of Hubei's Photographers Association, has visited Africa more than 20 times over the past decade and says that he has a deep love for its people and wildlife, promoting the conservation of its natural resources and beauty.

Zhao Yingxin, president of the China Photographic Publishing House, gave a glowing review of Yu's works. "Yu Huiping's photography is perceptive, smart and visually impactful, capturing the vitality of primitive life. The photos seem to jump right out of the lens, leap out of the screen."

The museum's director, Fang Qin, said that while the museum is mostly concerned with cultural relics he sees the "This is Africa" exhibit as a way of providing a wider range of knowledge and artistic interest to visitors, enhancing the museum's mission of social education and enriching the cultural life of the masses.

One visitor, surnamed Zhang from Hunan, couldn’t help but linger in the exhibition hall, saying that the beautiful images gave him a rare and deep understanding of African customs and conditions.

At the opening of the exhibition on September 28th, Yu auctioned off his works for charity, raising 5.1 million yuan for a local foundation that helps impoverished youths and other vulnerable groups in Hubei province.

The museum decided to cancel the exhibition.

Before you decided to judge the whole of China on a single incident, please bear in mind that Chinese is generally not so sensitive to racism issue.

Chinese do not bear the same white-guilt/hypocrisy of political correctness for what white actually DID to African centuries ago. And Chinese are practical people that care more about real action than some superficial window-dressing.

Since some African did complain about hurt feeling, and museum become aware of that different point of view, which some people think should be obvious. The museum did the right thing in pulling the exhibition.

Finally a sensible comment and a good explanation, Without the usual throwing toys out of the Pram responses by most here.. Kudos

Never implied all Chinese people to be insensitive to racial bias’s and prejudices.. only that the curators should have known better.. Ignorance cannot be a excuse in this Information Age.. Having been to Shanghai, HK and Guangzhou I can tell you personally those places are some of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world.. Cheers

China is not a multi-race society. Not so sensitive to racism issues.
To be honest, I agree with you on this one.
That's a fact, even though some people won't like to hear that, but we have to say things the way they are.

Thats a absurd excuse to make in 21st century.. How could any authority allow something like this to happen ? Shocking !!
No, I agree with him. China is not a multi rave society, as such they are not yet used to mixing with other alien races like Blacks.
We tend to forget that it's only recently (less than 10-20 years) that Africans started traveling to China in large numbers after China opened up to the world and experience rapid growth. We should not forget that the country has always been a homogeneous society and it was closed up to the outside world for decades (from the late 40s to late 80s) . So multi culturalism is a recent phenomenon for them, the world needs to be patient with them in this aspect. You can't expect them to be like western countries who have been used to having such large amount of immigrants from such countries for a century now.

Racism? i called it "child's play" come to HK my hometown to experience the "big deal"
We basically discriminate on every colors, races, we even having special names for each different ones
So? they still keep pouring in HK because they're happily making money much more than their own countries
This may sound rude, however face it, at the end of the day "Money Talk, Bullshit Walk" period
How about stop being a hypocrite for once?
Agree 100%

Prove what I am saying is wrong. Don't just spout left wing liberal nonesense. Everyone knows the truth about race but none dare admit it publicly.
