Recently heard rumors that TuAF is starting a program like USAF Reserves/National guard where a pilot in commercial airlines can also be a weekend combat pilot. Is there any truth to these rumors??

Also what would be the requirements for this program? Salary?? Do I have to give up US citizenship??

Also looking into Turk Hava Yollari.

Really want to escape anti muslim hatred in America. So if I am a Pakistani immigrant in Turkey who is very religious. And if my wife wears hijab/niqab/burqa. How will we be treated? Will we be mocked?? What should I expect from a life in Turkey?? Do Turks dislike outsiders or look down upon them?? What is a good salary to have a decent life??

I think to serve in the military of any nation, one must be the national of that country. So commercial or not... you are not a Turkish citizen so I don't see the point. Furthermore, Turkey has enough human resource that it does not need to import any.

Your or your family's religious views do not matter an inch, haven't been so far for anyone. For recruitment of personnel in military (officer, NCO, specialist or contracted privates), candidates are subject to a certain level of security clearance which would basically start with being a Turkish national at each of these types. I would answer the rest of the questions but for obvious reasons it wouldn't matter so.

I doubt that a foreigner with US citizenship can be a weekend combat Pilot in the TuAF, but working for Turkish Airlines shouldn't be a problem.

You can't be a pilot in TuAF but if you are an experienced pilot and have US citizenship, I think you can be a pilot in THY easily. And they pay very well. But probably not more than Qatari or Emirati companies. Because I heard about THY pilots which leave to Qatar and Emirates Airlines.

About second question, it would depend where you live and what kind of hijab it is. But generally niqab and burqa is not very welcomed in Turkey. Because even religious Turks don't use that kind of hijab (maybe %3 or 5) Average hijabi muslim woman in Turkey, only wears headscarf, doesn't hide her face and mostly wear modern but long dresses.

But saw a TRT World youtube video where a few women give their opinion on how the lifting of the hijab ban is a gift for them. But in the comments sections they were ridiculed and insulted. Some said these women are not Turkish but Arabic and dont belong in Turkey and that the video is pure propoganda. 60,000 watched the video almost 500 liked it whereas 1500 disliked it.

And just judging by the news reports/articles and social media the Turkish society seems to be divided as to wether they should be accepting of muslim practices or not. A big number of Turks seem to view Islamic practices as backward and barbaric.

So one hand I am being rold on quora and various other social media that Turkey is very welcoming for muslims. On the other hand there is opposition to practising muslims??

Which leaves me extremely confused. And I would like the UNFILTERED version as to whether conservative muslim men and women are liked or disliked in Turkey?? Because in essence my interest in moving to Turkey is to live in a reasonably prosperous nation, where we(males and females of my family)can practice Islam freely without a large amount of reprisal or hatred from locals.

Because after all I am trying to escape the anti muslim environment in Western countries. Which with every passing day is making things very hard. Especially it is very hard for a well practising muslim to get to higher positions/jobs. Americans seem to be very happy to give me labor jobs. But not so much when it comes to good office jobs unless I essentially become an atheist muslim in name only. And speak totally like them.

In my country,nobody cares if you are a practising Muslim or not,as long as you dont wear those burqas(women) and wild beards(men),you wont be harassed however,in some ultra conservative areas in Istanbul this(burqa) a must.

I am religious in that I pray 5 times on and off, love the quran. But I am not too religious if you know what I mean.

The thing that I am tired of at this point is WASP/white mentality Americans constantly blocking me in my career. Trying to put me down if I do a better job, preferring same people as me but only white in color and in general behaving like total shayateen.

And this phenomenon is getting worse day by day.

In my country,nobody cares if you are a practising Muslim or not,as long as you dont wear those burqas(women) and wild beards(men),you wont be harassed however,in some ultra conservative areas in Istanbul this(burqa) a must.

Well, I think every nation has those kind of people who can use their bullshitting limits on internet freely. But they can't do it in real life.

This is a secular state but a muslim country, as a muslim, you won't have too much trouble because of your religious identity, even if you face some problems, there will be more people who will be in your side and defend you.

As long as your beard is not salafi beard, there won't be a problem. But of course there are company codes too and it depends. Maybe THY doesn't allow it, I don't know.

You can make friends and yes Turkish people generally like Pakistanis because of their helps in independence war.

I only realized this last year when I visited the ME region last year and wasn't looked at as some alien due to similar looks. Born in western Europe and having grown up there my entire life it became the normal/standard to me that I was unaware of being viewed differently. Not saying that the west is bad, but discrimination exists in a large way.

I was frowned upon by some manager when needing security clearance for a ministry of defense related task not too long ago, better to work somewhere else indeed.

The problem is the many Arab refugees in the big cities,you might get mistakenly be seen as one them,thats why if you are planning to live in my country,you need to make sure your neighbors know who you are and what you do,blend in the community you live in.

Well, I dont think it would effect your life dramatically. Because before AKP, people could live their religion too. And even if they go, there won't be a huge change. (Yes, there were some meaningless scarf ban etc. before AKP, but now all parties are enough mature to respect beliefs and lifestyles of people, I think.)
