The one on the left is the old 12.7x108mm Machine gun round used in the M 99 which produced terrible MOA.

The one on the right is the new specialized 12.7x108mm round which looks to be made of hardened steel. The round fired from the QBU 09 penetrates 50mm of homogeneous steel plate at 1500 meters with 80% probability and 100mm at 200 meters with 100% probability. MOA is 0 at 200 meters, and 180 mm at 1500 meters.

With thermals and a digital fire control system it will be like playing point and click games. Just kidding sniping is far harder than that

feel free to comment.:agree:

How reliable is it?

It looks to be tested in rather harsh conditions. The Himalayas provide a brutal testing ground with temperatures of 40 degrees below zero

For comparison you can see how we tested the QBZ 95

As you can see we test them in every environment imaginable.

source shows it is not as accurate as western conterparts.....china still has lots homework to do in material fields

Lets compare western counterparts then. Start with the M107

The M107 has a MOA of 3.

In metric units 1 MOA at 100 meters = 2.908 centimeters.

The QBU 09 has negligible MOA at 200 meters.

Cheytac's big brother... assuming it has excellent digital fire control systems.

Some new Info and a video of it in service.

For the first time, another item got its debut in the official Chinese media: The QBU-10/Type 10 12.7mm heavy anti-material sniper rifle. This weapon will be the new standard heavy sniper rifle in service with the PLA. It features superior accuracy through the utilization of a match-grade barrel, dedicated 12.7x108mm sniper loads and a special high-tech scope that integrates a fire-control computer that calculates range, wind-deflection and lead, as well as offering night fighting capabilities. A sniper armed with the QBU-10 heavy sniper rifle is thus capable of operating alone, without a spotter - although Chinese military doctrine still pairs each sniper with a spotter and/or more supporting members.

Most militaries pair a sniper with a spotter as does China with the current doctrine.

Hopefully very soon the doctrine can be changed so that there will truly be lone snipers with the same capabilities as a sniper team.

As with many Chinese developments with the advent of newer generation equipment, older generation equipment is subsequently given export permission.

This is pretty much always true unless the type of system is not of national importance like say unguided missiles, or basic small arms.

The previous antimaterial rifle the M99 has been exported to the likes of the United WA army, Bangladesh and FSA

OMFG... Why and how the **** are those FSA terrorists and their Al-Nusra brothers able to get their hands on M99s!!! If someone should be getting the M99s from China, it should be the SAA!!!

who cares, everyone's money is good, China is open for business. You got money? You are a friend.

I think as sated in the title, it is more anti-material than sniper rifle. Also, can anybody tell me the difference between a fire control system and a digital scope? does this system compensate for air velocity difference? No system is 100% in accuracy for any range, imho....
