Qatar withdraws measures established against UAE

In my personal opinion I like Qatar the people are proud *** but I have seen more Qatari do work then Emirati or Saudi...just my observation I could be wrong as my sample size was limited

Arab internal disputes have best chance of resolution when they are solved by the Arabs themselves...
I think that is the case of any country. If you studied history you will know when a foreign body offers to help (in the past British East India company and Dutch East India company caused problems between monarchs and then offered to help in exchange for land leased for decades ...resulting in their expansion)...The same is the case with USA when it intervenes it gets land for bases or subsidised oil and gas...

Conclusion is always resolve your own indifference the outside body is never your friend

The have to before 2022

Qataris can make peace with Saudia, but not with emirati. The Asian cup semi final was a clear indication how much Emaratis hate Qataris. Ask any Qatari how they feel about UAE people and you'll get an idea . The hate has grown beyond from mere government level to common masses now.

But there are many intermarriage between the two nations....and they basically cut from the same cloth...weirdos

obviously wht u say is true
i m talking about there internal politics
qatars government is subsidizing every thing i live in oman i know some qataris also living here
reality is they are just waiting for a chance to get back into gcc

Some of the items are subsidized for Qatari nationals. Nothing for expatriates. Even they are going to remove subsidies from Qatari nationals, if the rumors are true.

Watch Qatar vs UAE semifinal match of Asian cup on Youtube. You'll get an idea. Intermarriages are far and few. Not that many too have a swinging affect. Qatar and UAE rivalry goes back decades ago. Even in 2015, UAE were pushing to sanction qatar. This time they got lucky. Common qatari thinks that UAE have backstabbed them

I lived in Qatar for 4 years and still go back every now and then. I have to say the wat Qatar handeled the situation was remarkable. The blockading countries have always been vary of Qatar, they even planned a coup in the country a few decades ago.

Don't read too much into what GCC fan boys are saying reality is quite different;
"Significant fiscal and external buffers have enabled Qatar to successfully absorb the adverse shocks from the 2014-2016 decline in oil prices and the diplomatic rift."

The IMF visited Qatar between October 29 and November 4 to assess the country’s economic situation.

Qatar will also introduce VAT "towards the end of 2019 or early 2020", the IMF has said.

Qatar has decided to withdraw its measures against the UAE in a significant concession aimed at averting the consequences of the UAE’s case in WTO against an illegal Qatari ban on UAE goods and services.

During a session of the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of the WTO, on Friday to examine the UAE’s request to set up an arbitration committee to assess Qatari efforts to ban UAE consumer goods and services, Qatar announced that it had withdrawn the measures they established against the UAE. It also said that it has partially revoked measures that banned buying and selling commodities exported by the UAE.

The Qatari climb-down recognises that Doha's policies had violated its international obligations. However, the partial concession doesn't not resolve some of the fundamental issues of the dispute, and the UAE continues to explore its legal options to ensure that Qatar abides by its WTO obligations.

Abdullah Hamdan Al Naqbi, Director of the international law Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, stated that Qatar's confession of its previous violations one day before the UAE request was heard '' is a clear concession''. ''We continue to seek Qatar’s full withdrawal of these measures so as to ensure Doha's commitment to its WTO obligations and ensure our exports of goods has free access to Qatar markets'' he underscored.

He added, ''We see today that Qatar approach, which placed it on the defensive, did not count and think of the damage that will come back from this trend.''

The GCC already introduced VAT a while back however Qatar didn't due to the ongoing situation with the GCC. Look there is no denying Qatar has suffered because of the blockade, prices have increased however the Qatari government has tried a lot to minimise the damage. Things are not that bad though, if you go to Lulu or Carrefour (retail companies) in Bahrain and Qatar you will see that Bahrain is more expensive.

Businesses have suffered, most of Qatar's imports came from Saudi before the blockade however there is a complete shutdown of the IB, no movement at all now.

@Bratva if you don't mind me asking, which area are you from? I used to live in Najma, C-Ring, near the Al Meera.

Keeping everything in mind especially the magnitude of the task at hand and the abruptness at which the sanctions were enforced, qatar has done remarkably well. Before the blockade most edibles were being imported via salwa border (saudi border) but now all are coming directly to qatar or via oman / turkey.
The fertilizer, LNG and recently the dairy industry has took off in qatar and qatari people have all stood behind their emir. Its really amazing as to how much support the emir has received from the masses.

Qatar has been spending huge amount on infrastructure and is all poised to host the fifa world cup. FIFA has come up with weird suggestion of including more teams in the tournament and with iran being under sanctions and oman, kuwait and turkey being a few hrs flight away... Uae and ksa are more willing to benefit and reap into the hard work started and done qatar. Its not qatar who is more willing rather the blockade has enabled qatar to diversify and surprisingly its doing reasonably well.

Regarding a fellow member mentioning inter marriages between qataris and rest of the gulf nationals, well intermarriages are mostly with ksa nationals and very few with uae ones. Bratva is right when he says that the hatred against emiratis ia deeply routed and honestly speaking is well placed and justifiable as well. Comparatively i have found qataris and omanis to be the least arrogant in gulf. Qataris mind their own business, respect the law, go by their own business and follow the principles of live and let others live.

UAE files WTO case against Qatar over goods ban

You can try as hard as you can to paint it as Qatar making peace gestures. It's just that Qatar hand was forced by UAE.

You are welcome to visit to doha and see for yourself how beloved you are here in qatar.

I have been to both and for some reasons I like Qatar...esp people ...

They are educated and have reformed their arrogant nature quite a bit over the years because of multi cultural environment. You'll see some bad eggs for sure but majority are good.

Sin tax was established this year. They are planning to introduce fixed utility bills for Qatari nationals who were getting Free utility services. Gonna introduce Toll tax on main highways too. VAT is the final step in introducing the tax regime.

Haha. It's a very congested area. especially in the evening time. And parking problems are Hugh. I live in Westbay area.

I'm not trying anything, the Qataris are negotiating as we speak. On national security grounds they could have challenged WTO, but they didn't.

You can go blue in the face denying it, we'll all see how the cookie crumbles.

Not a coup, but an OP to deal with the coup.

@MastanKhan Thanks to PDF TT, now you know, foreign policy matters are dictated by football fans.
