India's 10th seed P. V. Sindhu stunned China's 2nd seed Wang Yihan and advanced to the women's singles quarterfinals of the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou on Thursday.

The Hyderabadi won 21-18, 23-21 in 54 minutes at the Tianhe Indoor Stadium. She next faces another Chinese and 7th seed Wang Shixian.

This is the first time three Indians (Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap and Sindhu) have reached quarterfinals of the prestigious badminton tournament.

Earlier the day, Saina Nehwal rallied from a game down to beat Thailand's 15th seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk 18-21, 21-16, 21-14 in a clash which lasted 52 minutes.

With this win, Saina also kept her all-win record against Buranaprasertsuk intact, having beaten her in their five previous encounters before today.

In another quarterfinal, Parupalli Kashyap advanced in the men's singles beating Hong Kong's sixth seed Yun Hu 21-13, 21-16 in 37 minutes. This is Kashyap's best outing at the event and he is now just one step away from a medal.

This is the 26-year-old's first victory over the Hong Kong native in three meetings.

Hahahaha. An year ago there were 3 chinese WS players in top 4, Now there is only one. Beginning of the end of chinese domination in badminton.

That is not possible Chinese are meant to rule Asia.

Yes. They will rule. In their dreams. :P

Erm, we are not the ones releasing India 2030 superpower movies in which India has white slaves and servants.

And congratulations on beating our Olympic silver medallists in a non-Olympic event.

Did you know in the London Olympics, we won 5 Gold medals in badminton alone?

How many Gold medals did 1 billion Indians win in the London Olympics overall?
