I don't think there is a solution to the Ukraine file but I think what will happen is that both sides will fortify their side of the borders becoming another DMZ but both sides will not engage despite the tensions which will linger for decades to come but expect another DMZ like situation as the end game but no actual war in the immdiate time but far in the future like decades from now could be possible but not today but a fortication side by side will be the temporary result..

The NATO will refuse to exit east europe leading to both sides fortifying their sides of the border and Ukraine doing the same and Russia the same

Russia may be be forced to open a safe land corridor to Crimea, then deploy strategic assets there. NATO needs to pull back a little, give Russia breathing space.
