You think Putin doesn't know that? The entire world knows that the Pakistani government survives on foreign aid and loans. So, why did Putin opt for Pakistan? This question becomes all the more relevant. Tides are indeed changing quite rapidly. Russia isn't putting all its eggs in one basket anymore. Don't act all surprised now. Expect Russian military hardware on soft terms. Russia is seeking to mend ties with Pakistan. This can only be good for the region. The Cold War is over and time has come to move on. Pakistan too seeks better relations with an important regional player, namely Russia. A win win if you ask me.

The bold part is moot. Does he really opt? If yes what options he dumps?

Though I dont have any problem with Pak - Russia trade. The only thing I see amusing is making a hill out of mole.

Its not the issue of Indian purchase Vs. Pakistan's 'purchase', it about the opening of Russian Defence Industries for Pakistan's 'Direct Purchases'.

Every reasonable person can understand that India would remain a big buyer of Russian defence equipments and spare parts for some time because of the current arsenal of Indian defence forces form Kilo & Akula class submarines to the SU, MiG series jets, from radars to S-300 and AAM.

From Pakistan perspective it all about 'wining' a new partner'

Not only a buyer but we are in Joint venture with Russia in hi profile projects like 5th generation fighter aircraft,Multirole Transport aircraft and not to forget Brahmos.

Putin for sure look towards Pakistan because of the things that future holds with regard to Pakistan.

When compared to India , Pakistan is on verge of ordering and investing billions of rubles in Russian industry with a lot of potential purchases.

We must remember the bilateral trade potential of Pakistan-Russia with Russia benefiting from the resources Pakistan has in it sleeves.

Also Russia has a good history of co operating with Pakistan in the last decade and the mutual co operation in maintaining the security situation with Russia with both playing hand in hand in tackling radicals in both nations.

While Russia can benefit from huge natural resources orders and even power sector investments with good returns from Pakistan with a much stabler governments which Pakistan has throughout its history unlike India where they elect people with stupid democratic ways and no option to conduct a simple shutdown against government with tools like Tsunami and safe gatherings outside PM residence.

Pakistan allows it even for its retired cricketers and clerics while India has no freedom to do such people friendly exercises.

Even if high value purchases are directed towards Russia , Pakistan has the capability to maintain balance with China and US due to robust economy which brings shame on India and Indians.

Not to tell the global influence, reach and reputation Pakistan enjoys which India can only dream about.

All in all Putin and Russia has rightfully recognized the priorities and must be deeply regretting its earlier tie-up decisions and will rectify it in future.

I believe you objected to the RD-93 deal. What was the result then? What makes you think that New Dehli, like previous times, wouldn't have objected to this deal?

Just as expected, 1/4th of Indians are wondering where the money would come from, the second quarter producing the list of the defense equipment purchased since time immemorial, the third quarter trying to teach Russia how to run the foreign policy and the last ones, telling us that we dont understand Russia.
