Russian President Vladimir Putin burst out in laughter after one of his cabinet ministers suggested that they should export pork to Indonesia, which is a Muslim-majority country.
The video of the Russian president giggling quickly went viral and the original tweet of the footage was retweeted more than a thousand times, reports the Telegraph.
According to the report, the incident was covered by local Russian media and uploads on YouTube got hundreds of thousands of views.
Talking about increasing Pork in Asia, Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said: “Let’s say Germany produces 5.5 million tonnes of pork a year, 3 million of that is exported. To all countries, and first of all China, Indonesia, part to Japan, Korea and so on.”
The minister also continued talking about growing pork production in the far east but stopped speaking when he noticed President Putin’s bemusement.
Chuckling with Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Putin said: “Indonesia is a Muslim country, they don’t eat pork.”
Tkachyov responded saying “Okay, South Korea” and tried to carry on with his report despite the titters in the room.
However, meeting broke down into guffaws when the minister again continued saying “What’s the difference?”
The Russian president, who keeps serious demeanour at most official meetings, was laughing so hard he had to cover his face with his hands.
Putin is also known for a cutting sense of humour and the occasional salty joke.
At a question-and-answer session in June, Putin drew laughs from the audience arguing that US allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 election were “some kind of hysteria”.
“Do we need to give you a pill? Does anyone have a pill?” Mr Putin asked, cracking up Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next to him.
