Punjab province to be split into two administrative divisions.

Politically, if South Punjab is given the status of full province, it will be beneficial for Punjab and Punjab's seats in senate would effectively double.

Punjab's seats in the Senate might double but PMLN will not agree to it. From PMLNs perceptive it is far easier to govern one province and retain an iron grip on the party. two Punjabs will create the problem of successor to the new province and that might even cause a rift among the two brothers.

Quite wishful actually. If they intended to do what you're saying, we would have been having this thread in the first place. This argument of not dividing might hold true when south Punjab was a stronghold of PPP. But now with PPP in shambles, way is pretty much clear. Rest having two provinces would actually increase PML-N's domination of Senate and accommodate more MPs. I believe we are very likely to have a South Punjab before 2023.

Pakistan should be kept as 4 provinces, we already have tribalism, sectarian, ethnic issues so why make more provinces such as muhajar province, saraiki province etc

We should instead make PAU (Province Admin Unit) for better governing purposes

I believe to make real progress each Province Admin Unit should have a governer to manage the whole unit.
The untouchable nawaab CM chair should be abolished.

This setup is already succesfully being used for cities in Pakistan. Ive visited mirpur back in 2015 and they had LA1 Mirpur LA2 Mirpir LA3 Mirpur and nobody ever mentioned why have we divided mirpur.

This should be implemented at province level too. Just need to make bigger units. The biggest plus point is no ethnic issue will be created and public wont even bother to complain. The only people who will beat the drums are the political leaders as they have been playing the ethnic and other cards for decades and will loose out. They want to make provinces on ethnic names because they have been promising the public for years and if they fulfil the promises then will gain seats for many more decades

Political parties game: Create ethnic, tribal hatred and issues
Public: Will fall for the game and spread the fire
Political parties: Will promise to make provinces on tribalism and ethnic lines to gain votes for decades. And if are successfull then their children will play the game and will gain seats for many more generations

If south punjab province is made then I want to see some actual political competition between PTI and N there. And not like PPP does in Sindh, win votes based on victimisation and wadera system. Sindh has always been against building further canals in punjab thal region. Technically all of these areas are in south punjab. And if province is made then they will demand fair share of water and Sindh obviously couldn't play small province anymore.

South Punjab and hazara provinces are likely near future.

Pakistan needs these many provinces. More provinces only means fair-er treatment to people of these region with stronger state of Pakistan.

I understand your point regarding the allocation of additional seats in Senate, but my question is this, would PMLN survive as a single entity if this division of provinces takes place. Two provinces will need two CMs and who from among the Sharif family will be selected for this job? Will it be hamza of marrium or some other bloke. Will it not cause rift within the top family. Hamza and marrium are both being groomed for leadership but who will get the federal and who will be stuck in the province, this time even smaller, forever. Remember ZAB's children squabbled over who will be the heir to the man.

They have three options, aside form two you mentioned, Salman can be brought into politics if need arises. So logically it is possible that Shahbaz heads to centre while Mariam and Hamza become the CMs.
