Punjab Government Budget FY 2013/14

Thanks to PTI..now everyone is looking to work.

Imran Khan is the best thing that happened to Pakistan after its independence in 1947!

Now make sure that all these things stated in budgets are done without any corruption...

Pakistani Punjab was the richest region in entire subcontinent at the time of partition...and now, thanks to dictators, family-mafias, and slave punjabis...our side of Punjab is even behind than Indian Punjab (which is 3 times smaller in area and has 4 times less resources (agricultural land etc))

Looks like you were not born or something when NS was CM of Punjab. Even Sheikh Rasheed said he was the best CM. Also, People still used to give examples of SS first CM Tenor. When we used to come from NWFP to Punjab (before SS), things were so bad, even in cities like Lahore and Faisalabad. Mardan Roads (made in Fazlay Haq's era) were the luxuries for my cousins who used to visit Mardan on summer vacations. But SS turned the table and FSD and LHR infrastructure become better then Mardan.

Any how, now it doesn't matter, You can keep living in your IK Sega to yourself only. And yes, even this time these brothers has to work to get majority in next elections.

What you are looking at is 400 billion that include salary, administrative etc etc etc ( all type of development and non development funds in it ) just for example out of 66 bil KPK Education budget 56 bil is just salary ( Punjab and Sindh are same ). Its not that impressive trust me

Good teachers is all you need to educate a nation. Buildings, furniture, infrastructure etc is secondary. People like Dr. Qadeer, Dr. Salam, Asad Umar etc were all educated in 'taat' schools which were organized under trees.

Competition in democracy breeds performance which in result improves the life of an ordinary citizen. Good day for all of us who support democracy over dictatorship.

So what do you think, all the money was being used for buildings?

Same would be the case in Punjab. The defence budget is also the same (majority used for paying salaries).

The main fault in previous years was that teachers won't come to schools because they won't be getting pays or were getting sub-standard pays. Now they have got salaries so they would be coming to schools to teach.

Secondly, 10 Billion is enough to make new schools and improve them. The quality of teachers is all that matters.

LAHORE - The Punjab government on Monday unveiled an ambitious Rs 290 billion Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the year 2013-14.

Having tasted success because of its popular programmes which proved to be big clinchers in the recently-held elections, the PML-N provincial government continued with such popular initiatives. It created a special head for the development expenditures of the politically popular programmes in the province.

These popular projects include Danish Schools programme for which Rs 3 billion was allocated, the Punjab Education Endowment Fund got Rs 2 billion, Punjab Education Foundation Rs 7.5 billion, Aashiana Housing Scheme Rs 3 billion, Self Employment Scheme Rs 3 billion, PIEDMC/FIEDMC Rs 3 billion, Infrastructure Development Fund Rs 3 billion, Innovation Development Fund Rs 500 million, Rs 1.5 billion was allocated for the internship programme, Rs 500 million for low-income housing, Rs 5 billion for clean drinking water, Rs 4 billion for Pilot Health Card Project in four districts, Rs 1.5 billion for TEVTA, Rs 3 billion for the Punjab Millennium Development Goals Programme (PMDGP), Rs 2.5 billion for Population Welfare and Rs one billion was allocated for PAMCO.

For the fiscal year 2013-14, the Punjab government increased development expenditures on the social sector by 51.7 percent, social protection sector by 409.9 percent, infrastructure development by 12.1 percent, production sector by 550 percent, services sectors by 192.6 percent, and expenditure on special packages was increased by 73 percent.

Allocation of funds for energy projects registered 100 percent increase in Punjab's annual budget for fiscal year 2013-14 to Rs 20.43 billion against Rs 10 billion during 2012-13.

According to the budget documents, the Punjab government has actively embarked upon implementation of the ADB-assisted Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Programme (REDSIP) for construction of five hydropower projects at Marala (Sialkot), Chianwali (Gujranwala), Deg Out Fall (Sheikhupura), Pakpattan (Pakpattan), Okara (Okara) with cumulative installed potential of 25MW and annual generation of 140GWh.

Out of these execution contracts under International Contract Bidding (ICB) for Marala (7.64MW), Pakpattan (2.82MW), Dag Outfall (4.04MW), and Chianwali (5.38MW) have been awarded and the contracting joint ventures have started detailed designing to undertake these turnkey projects.

Further, feasibility appraisals are completed for development of five additional hydropower sites at barrages and canal systems (Khanki and Qadirabad barrages and LCC, UCC and QB Link Canals) to have total installed capacity of 55MW with annual energy generation.

Under a separate initiative, a detailed technical feasibility study has also been planned to harness 120MW generation potential at the Tunsa barrage through private sector. It may be noted that Punjab consumes 68 percent of the total electricity generated in the country and is coping with severe energy shortfalls that have very adversely hit its targets for annual GDP growth rates of 6 percent for the past many years.

Since revision of the Punjab Power Policy in year 2009, the province has accelerated activities toward envisaged action plans for renewable energy development in the province. After establishment of the Punjab Power Development Company Limited (PPDCL) to implement the ADB-assisted five low-head hydel power projects in public sector and the Punjab Power Development Board (PPDB) to facilitate power sector investments in private sector. An independent Energy department has also been established by the Punjab government in 2011 to plan, oversee and administer the development, growth and regulation of energy sector in Punjab.

The salient initiatives of the Punjab government on energy front suggest that the Punjab government would focus on renewable energy development sector investment programme to construct five hydropower stations. It will also prepare a feasibility study for development of coal based power projects and industrial estate in Punjab. Further, a Centre for Energy Research and Development at KSK campus of University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore would also be set up. The government would also install solar photovoltaic power plant at the Islamia University Bahawalpur besides constructing 120MW Tunsa HPP in joint venture mode.

Punjab Budget: Official document says 40 billion for education not 210 billion (being propagated by PMLN & Geo)

this link the the official web site of punjab government which reveals the correct figure of budget allotment which is 40,596.539 million Rupees which is ~ 40 billion, it looks all propaganda fron Noon league and geo news.

What I really like is that SS has allocated an impressive amount for social services and especially for women development. Plus his plan for solar powered tube-wells will also ensure cropping on time and hence more agricultural productivity. Punjab's distinction is agriculture and I would expect him to declare agricultural cities just like industrial estates and establishing the storage of agricultural and livestock produce. It can earn us handsome amount of precious foreign exchange. :)
