What's new

PTI's Asad Umar speech in overseas Pak convention, Isb, can he be the next PM of Pakistan

Asad Umar and at a later stage like 2033 election, Murad Saeed. We need energetic PM like Murad.

IK must give a chance to Youngsters in next election. Useless and old farts should retire from politics and young generation should be given a chance. I am sure IK can find 22 youngsters out of 220 million people.

Correction: I mean Someone younger but already established in his profession/career and they can be promoted within the system based on performance from city council to MPA and MNA and Senator. IK will need to turn his party into true democratic institution where students can do intern and learn about politics.

“Youngsters” is probably not the best way to describe whom you want to form your future leadership. Skilled middle management being promoted on merit would be whom, IMHO, we would hope get recognized and promoted. I have hopes for Shehryar Afridi. He seems to have good repore with the people, and with some more experience over the course of the next 5 years he could move into a viable candidate for one of the top jobs. Although local politics will dictate his prospects along the way as well.

Who we need now is not an ideologue but a pragmatic manager, that knows all the players and can keep the economic development going. A Deng Xioping figure. IMHO, that is SMQ. With a person like SMQ at the helm, PTI can continue to govern and attract a more technocratic crowd to help him secure deals in this changing global landscape.

Imran Khan could preside as President of the party, still guiding the party from the sidelines, building up the junior cadres, but with SMQ in charge, the day to day operations of governance will be separate from the party work.

Also, we need to see this transition, away from a party formed around a person or their family, to one based on a platform. Imran Khan can have more lasting impact once out of office, if he builds up party discipline and the institution of meritocratic performance based promotion. This will ensure the older generation are just transitional figures and once their time comes, they will have to hand over power to the next generation.

Jkt was behind AU removal and IK down his heart regretted his decision a lot later on. JKT convinced IK that AU was not doing his job well by delaying IMF deal. This later also turned out to be one main reason of differences in between IK and JKT moving forward.

A great politician would have manouvered around that though, and when he came back to government too he was placed in a far lower ministry. Then theres someone like SMQ who has put in an average performance as FM, but because he is a good politician he is in the running for taking over after IK.

AU is an administrator, but he needs someone with more power to shield him as he does his job. Thats why im saying he should be made CM after Buzdars tenure (if PTI wins Punjab).

I agree Buzdar should be given a different portfolio in next term and someone else should be Central Punjab CM but I have my reservations about Asad Umar.

Someone from Tareem group would love to be South Punjab CM but that all depends on IK.

I didn’t mean someone from college or uni. I mean someone young but already established in his profession/career. He or she can be promoted within the system, local body election to MPA and eventually MNA and Senator.

Pak expats demand audit of funding to PTI: sources

ISLAMABAD: Expatriate Pakistanis have accused the ruling PTI’s overseas chapter of serious financial irregularities in the party’s funding and demanded an audit into the donations, well-placed sources revealed on Thursday.

The sources privy to the matter said that a delegation of the expats met with former special assistant to the prime minister on overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari at his house in Islamabad and apprised him about the alleged fraud in the party funding.

“Millions of dollars were collected from us in the name of the PTI but there is no financial record of the huge funding,” the overseas Pakistanis told Bukhari. "They said that millions of rupees were received from them for advertisements but they were not even listened to during the convention," sources added.

The convention was meant for the expatriate Pakistanis but a large number of local people were invited to fill the seats in the hall, they told Zulfi Bukhari. Expressing their anger, according to the sources, the participants of the delegation said that the expatriate Pakistanis were not given due respect during the convention.

Meanwhile, the expatriate Pakistanis also met with PTI Additional Secretary Amir Mahmood Kiani and expressed their concerns. The PTI’s overseas chapter has completely failed to deliver, the delegation said and demanded the dismissal of the secretary of the PTI's overseas chapter Dr Abdullah Riar. However, Amir Mahmood Kiani assured them that their concerns will be conveyed to the top leadership.
