PESHAWAR - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday said that despite use of force by Punjab government his partys scheduled public meeting would be held in Lahore on October 30 at all cost.
Speaking at a public meeting held in Kapur Dheri where PML-Q former candidate for provincial assembly Mehmood Jan along with his family and others formally joined PTI, Khan said the PTI scheduled public meeting would prove that the people of Punjab were them, as they wanted change. He observed that the people already rejected the old faces in politics. He added that the meeting would prove that the masses rejected the politic of Sharif brothers and wanted change. The Government of Punjab was creating hurdles in holding the PTIs scheduled gathering in Lahore, but it would be held at all cost, Imran Khan asserted. He asked as to why the big fishes did not pay taxes. He maintained that the PTI would collect about Rs 1000 billion of taxes and would spend it on public welfare.
Refereeing to some senior politicians and heads of political parties, Imran Khan said they could not collect taxes as they themselves did not pay taxes. How can a leader eradicate corruption, if he himself is unable to disclose his own assets, Imran Khan said, adding that the PTI would not only disclose its own assets, but also pay taxes itself. He said it would collect tax from non-payers, who according to him, had ever been interested to rule but did not pay taxes. So far, he said, leaders have looted the national exchequer with both hands and have done corruption of over Rs 2000 billion.
Imran observed that Pakistan was one of the richest states, as it had over 180 billion tons of coalmines, which according to him were enough to generate more electricity than Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Besides, he added, a bigger gas reservoir than Sui had been discovered in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said if all these resources were properly used, they would certainly uplift peoples life standard and minimize their hardships. The policy of ruling the country term by term between two parties would not be accepted anymore, he said adding that people would vote those who were sincere and not corrupt. He said no country could make progress if its president was Asif Ali Zardari. We, if the PTI comes into power, will rid the country of US slavery, he stated.
He said the PTI would make Pakistan a country wherein people would pay taxes and foreign investors would come for investment, adding that there would be rule of law and justice. Earlier, Mahmood Jan Khan along with his family members and hundreds of supporters announced to join PTI.
Central leader of the party Ghulam Akbar, provincial leaders Asad Qaiser, Shah Farman, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, Zahid Hussain Mohmand, Atif Khan and large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
