Aray bhai, they've already declared it a PPP funded jalsa, since according to them, PPP is supporting PTI to weaken PMLN in Punjab.

Ch Nisar is still here and will be in Rawalpindi doing projects for us. And if Pti is so confident of conquering Rawalpindi bring Imran Khan as candidate against Ch Nisar, Bring Javeed Hashmi against Hanif Abbasi and then we will see. My friend also went to jalsa and he had a conversation with a Balochi, few people from KPK and few from Multan ( he was saying PAISA LAGA KAR AYIEN HAIN IK KO SUNANEY) but these people wont vote for IK in Pindi

Also look at this BB jalsa in 1986 (far far far bigger than last night) and result Sheik Rashid still won

All roads lead to Liaquat Bagh

Rawalpindi

All streets and roads of the city were jam-packed with activists and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) after 5 p.m., as they tried to reach the Liaquat Bagh to attend the party’s rally to be addressed by its leader Imran Khan here on Sunday.

Traffic was completely blocked at Pirwadhai, Peshawar Road, Jhelum Road, Airport Road, IJP Road, Benazir Bhutto Road, Chakri Road, Murree Road and Islamabad Expressway.

In Rawalpindi, traffic wardens tried to divert traffic flow to alternative routes, but badly failed in their attempt because all alternative routes, including Rawal Road, were blocked. The majority of long route transporters of Pirwadhai and Faizabad plied their vehicles on Islamabad roads to approach the highway. Motorists faced difficulties because they remained stuck up for long hours on roads.

As it was an extremely hot day, all roads gave a deserted look till 4 p.m. and traffic was smoothly flowing even on Benazir Bhutto Road. But after 5 p.m., processions of PTI activists and supporters started appearing from different parts of the twin cities.

All main markets, including Bara Market, Commercial Market, Moti Bazaar, Kohati Bazaar, Narankari Bazaar, China Market and Sarafa Bazaar, were closed down before time on Sunday due to the rally. All CNG and petrol pumps along Benazir Bhutto Road were also closed down after 3 p.m. to avoid any untoward incident.

Carrying big portraits of Imran Khan, PTI flags and wearing PTI armbands and caps, the party supporters danced to the beat of drums as they headed towards the venue. They raised slogans like ‘Hum Mulk Bachanay Niklain Hain Aao Hamaray Saath Chalo’ and ‘Imran Khan Zindabad’. Some young supporters wore T-shirts with Imran Khan’s pictures. The PTI supporters kept pouring in till filing of this report late in the evening.

Looks like it was a pretty successful rally - the two figures quoted here, 90,000 or 100,000 are pretty close, and are inline with what the PTI was expecting.

PTI to challenge speaker’s ruling: Imran

" If the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s government continues violating the SC order, we will march on Islamabad," PTI chairman Imran Khan.

RAWALPINDI: In an apparent confrontation between the judiciary and the executive over the issue of the prime minister’s conviction, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has put its weight behind the apex court.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced on Sunday that his party would challenge a ruling of the National Assembly speaker on the conviction of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in a contempt case.

Addressing a huge crowd at Rawalpindi’s historic Liaquat Bagh, Imran announced that he would file a petition in the apex court on Monday (today).

“If the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s government continues dishonouring the SC order, we will march on Islamabad to establish the rule of law in the country,” he said amidst thunderous applause from thousands of his supporters.

Witnesses say around 100,000 attended Sunday’s rally. However, official sources put the number of participants at 90,000.

The cricketer-turned-politician alleged that the PPP was violating the apex court judgments to conceal the corruption of President Asif Ali Zardari. The president, Imran continued, was “the mother of all ills in the country” including power outages, corruption, inflation and unemployment.

Imran referred specifically to the failure of public sector entities, saying that the reason behind rising inflation was losses accrued in the power sector, Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Steel Mills, et al.

Against the backdrop of a huge crowd cheering him on, Imran said the federal government had spent Rs1,000 billion in the power sector but had failed to overcome the electricity crisis.

Speaking about what he would change if voted to power, Imran said that to make the country a welfare state, his party would tax the wealthy class. Referring once again to the corruption of the incumbent government, Imran said, “This government has continuously been taxing the poor and middle classes to make up for the losses caused by corruption and mismanagement of the ruling elite.”
The PTI chief also declared that he would pave the way for investment in Pakistan, focusing on his clout with overseas Pakistanis: “I have collected Rs60 million from British Pakistanis in one day for my university in Mianwali,” he added.

Cautioning archrival Nawaz Sharif, the PTI chief said the popularity of his party had risen to 33 per cent in Punjab this year from three per cent in 2008. The PML-N, on the other hand, saw its popularity go down to 41 per cent this year from 80 per cent in 2008, Imran said.

At the end of his speech, the PTI chairman said that his party would hold its next public rally in Hyderabad on June 22. Earlier in the evening, PTI’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi castigated President Asif Zardari for attending the Chicago summit when he was unable to bring back any ‘good news’ for Pakistan.

To save the country, it is necessary for the people to besiege the President House and oust the incumbent president, Qureshi said.
To add fuel to the fire, the fiery politician said that the PPP gathering in Liaqat Bagh on December 27, 2007 where former premier Benazir Bhutto was assassinated, was not bigger than Sunday’s rally of PTI.

Meanwhile, PTI President Javed Hashmi said he would contest elections from Rawalpindi, from where he won elections in 2008 on PML-N’s ticket, if his party provided him the opportunity to do so.

He said that he did not want to leave the Rawalpindi seat but PML-N’s Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan “did not want him to retain his seat in Rawalpindi”. Hashmi predicted that the PML-N would not win any seats in the next elections.

Are you sure?

The reports in the media indicate something else:

Thousands of PTI supporters could not get access to Liaquat Bagh because of lack of space, as the park was packed to its capacity and they listened to the addresses of their leaders while standing at Benazir Bhutto Road for a long time.

The locals thronged the rooftops of their houses and nearby buildings to witness the PTI show at Liaquat Bagh.

I don't know if Imran Khan has the capability to invite people from Mars attend his Jalsas... damn, it's a Jalsa inside Pakistan and Pakistani nation would of course attend and where there is a Pakistani there would be mismanagement, even IK himself asked the crowed to show decency and discipline.

Change is a process, not an event which takes place overnight.
