Cellular phone subscription reaches 107m

LAHORE (PPI) - Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported that overall cellular phone subscription has reached 107 million with increase of 2.7 million new numbers in the past two months.The teledensity of cellular sector have also seen a surge of 1.6 in last two months to reach 64.8 by April. Besides, all five operators have added new subscriptions in their base and achieve average growth to widen their users’ base at all-time high level.

What about wasted numbers .. many peoples using 3 to 4 numbers at a time .. How many Cell phones users are there in Pakistan ?

Yes actuall users are less than this for sure. But still the Telecom sector is doing good. I read few days ago that cell fone sector paid 109billion in taxes. Still im not happy with the fact that we are importing more than billion $ worth cell phone every year. Why there is no investment from Nokia or others, i would like to see PTCL going for in house production of cell phones because they do have money and industry like T.I.P. Should invest or go for joint venture specially when T.I.P is almost on "summer vocations" for many years and its employees are suffering badly.
