Provincial politics: PTI worker Hashim Baber quits party – The Express Tribune
PESHAWAR:
Accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of not awarding party tickets on merit, politician Hashim Baber announced he will contest elections as an independent candidate from NA-3.

“The claim that 35% of tickets will be given to the youth was baseless. The ratio was hardly 15%,” Baber said.

He added that even though PTI chairman Imran Khan had said residents will be asked about the candidates in their union councils, no such checking was done before awarding people key positions.

He further claimed that 75% quota was reserved only for Punjab in the parliamentary board. “A certain group of party workers run all the affairs of the PTI ignoring, ordinary workers,” he added.

Baber had lost the PTI inter-party elections to a new entrant, Aatif Khan.

Baber has decided to join the Khidmatgar Qaumi Jirga, a group of elders from 52 villages near the Warsak Dam, which works for the welfare of the area’s people.

Baber said after the jirga’s efforts, they have received Rs40 million from the government as electricity royalty and pledged to continue his struggle for the villagers.

Baber is a retired bureaucrat and former central finance secretary of the Awami National Party.
