Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, five people were injured when Indian police resorted to brute force on peaceful protesters in Bandipora.Eyewitnesses told media men that scores of people led by APHC leaders including Mohammad Yousuf Naqash took out a rally from the Jamia Masjid Jadeed in Bandipora. They raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
The APHC leaders addressed the gathering when it reached Nowpora and urged the people to boycott the upcoming polls in the occupied territory terming the elections as a futile exercise. They condemned the arrest of senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, who was scheduled to address the gathering. They also castigated the puppet administration for the continued house arrest of veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani.
When the Hurriyet leaders left the area, youth tried to take out a march to the nearby Nowpora chowk. However, Indian police and paramilitary personnel, deployed in strength, resorted to brute force to disperse the protesters, resulting in the injuring of five people.
