Protest outside CIA offices against drone strikes

WASHINGTON: Anti-war activists held a protest march in the US capital on Saturday against drone strikes in Pakistan that they said had killed hundreds of innocent people.

After rallying outside the CIA’s headquarters in Virginia, the protesters plan to march to former vice president Dick Cheney’s home nearby in McLean.

The CIA runs the programme that includes drone strikes at suspected terrorist targets in Fata.

The organisers said that at Mr Cheney’s residence, they would attempt a symbolic ‘citizens arrest’ of the former VP on “the charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other high crimes and misdemeanours.”

“We are demanding that the US immediately stop the use of drones in Pakistan,” said Robby Diesu, one of the organisers.

“Every drone that kills a terrorist suspect also kills about a 100 civilians,” he said. “And these are CIA’s own figures. It is completely unacceptable.”

The protest is part of a campaign called ‘Peace of the Action’, which is the brainchild of Peace Mom, Cindy Sheehan, who has been striving to make the concept of peace a reality since her son, Casey, was killed in Iraq in April 2004.

Ms Sheehan said the protesters plan to stay on the sidewalks and roads near Mr Cheney’s home. But some protesters may risk arrest by walking up to the house.

Americans Protest over Drone Strikes

God Bless those Americans ....! :usflag:

The majority of Americans I've known and met with are peace loving people. They oppose warmongering committed by neocons in the name of crusades against other nations. This select group of evil men have hijacked a whole nation for their petty gains. Now, those that supported the wars are too tired of warmongering and want an exit from foreign land. The bloodthirsty neocons led their nation to wars that were unjustified and based on false pretexts. Most Americans realize this and voted for a change when Obama was elected. He promised change. An unprecedented choice by the American people when they chose a black president over a white neocon Republican. Most neocons can till this day not digest this humiliating defeat. Now, the US people are getting impatient with Obama for not fulfilling his promises. The vast majority of American people are sick and tired of war that has only brought them misery in the form of economic turmoil and more bloodshed. The wars have led to more instability and insecurity all over the world.

In D.C. protests outside politicians' homes are considered to be in poor taste; one demonstrates outside their offices instead. Furthermore, the argument of the protest leader - that drone attacks are cowardly so the U.S. should instead send soldiers to be killed the way her soldier-son was killed - reveals just how batty she and her seventy followers are. In no way do these people reflect the majority opinion of Americans regarding the drone attacks.

Well, neither do you represent the majority of Americans. We all know for a fact that the Republican warmongers got humiliated in the last election due to their endless warmongering. That's an undeniable fact. The vast majority of American people are tired of seeing their sons and daughters being killed in illegitimate wars that have only brought death and destruction on both sides. Wars that are fought at the behest of a handful of greedy stakeholders. You support those handful of greedy stakeholders such as rich corporate America. To make matters worse, wars that are fought on deceptive fabricated lies. Besides, whether Americans are opposed to drone attacks is irrelevant. The clear-cut majority of people in Pakistan are opposed to the drone attacks that cause intolerable collateral loss. That's what really matters since the drone attacks are taking place on Pakistani soil. You're sorely mistaken to believe that by killing innocent people you're winning the hearts and minds of the Pakistani people. On the contrary, the resistance being shown is a result of indiscriminate drone attacks. Drone attacks fuel more resentment and are the salient cause of instability.

Majority of Ameircan are peace loving hard worker , sadly its their gov officials & forige police makers who put Ameircan ...you know what in other countries you know what ...

Most Americans are too busy working when something bad happens they are like sheeps goig what why do ppl are angry we gave charity to Paksitan Earth Quake , we help Haiti Earth Quake relief effort

Its hard to know realities when its filtered thru Media dominantly controlled by few networks and funded by certain people who have controlled polics for generations..

From experience I find that Republicans are the main problem

But IRONICALLY I get along well with them -_- but its normally republicans who are drumming up the war horns and love the marching orders - Most American conflicts were done in Republican times
