Jewish groups call on Obama to ‘welcome the strangers’

WASHINGTON (JTA) – Twenty Jewish organizations urged President Obama and Congress to deal humanely with the unaccompanied children and refugees from Central America who are crossing the U.S. border.

The statement released Tuesday, which was written by the refugee resettlement agency HIAS, calls on the government to “welcome the stranger” in dealing with those entering the United States through Mexico from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

“The safety and well-being of these migrants – and particularly the unaccompanied children – must be at the heart of every policy decision made in response to this humanitarian crisis,” according to the statement, which was signed by such groups as the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B’rith International and the Jewish Federations of North America.

In the statement, the Jewish organizations call for a long term, holistic solution “that prioritizes safety and opportunity.” They call for increased border enforcement in connection with measures to ensure that those in danger of persecution in their homeland can seek asylum in the United States. The Jewish groups also are calling for increased funding for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Policy.

More than 50,000 unaccompanied children have crossed into the United States along its southern border in the past nine months and another 80,000 to 90,000 are expected by the end of the current fiscal year, according to HIAS.

Also signing the statement were Ameinu, Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies, Central Conference of American Rabbis, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Jewish Labor Committee, Jewish Women International, Keshet, National Council of Jewish Women, the Rabbinical Assembly, Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and Jewish Reconstructionist Communities, The Solomon Project, T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, Union for Reform Judaism, Uri L’Tzedek and The Workmen’s Circle.

I think its more than "democrats vs republicans" or "leftist vs right" because even the so called conservatives AKA republicans are beginning to parrot the same line as the democrats regarding this mass illegal immigration of central Americans. In other words, the Republicans are becoming more "democrat" than the democrats themselves! Can we blame them though when its all about who can get the most votes??

Because the US is a representative democracy, that means that Jews need at least 48% more of the population to put their (in your mind) Elders of Zion plans into effect. That means you hate the majority of Americans who agree with these "evil" plans, or in other words, you hate America. I invite you to leave, before America starts hating you back.

2) You, or your antecedents, were immigrants to America. You are part of a small and mistrusted minority. Should you succeed in fostering the kind of climate that can result in a Holocaust against Jews, you should be under no illusions that you're next on the list, if not first on the list.

It's important to approach this with a moderate mindset. Yes, illegal immigration is a severe problem. Waves of illegals coming from a particular part of the world, not divided among different backgrounds, discourages assimilation. Uncontrolled illegal immigration also enables criminals and terrorists to enter.

That said, immigration is a tough issue. Most Americans close their eyes to it, but this is necessary labor, absolutely necessary to the American economy in fields like agriculture and certain tertiary service jobs (e.g. cleaning) that keeps the cost of living low for most Americans.

The primary difference between Democrats and Republicans is how to approach the solution to this labor shortage. Democrats want unrestricted immigration. Republicans want a guest worker program. Right now, Democrats (Obama) are winning by default by refusing to enforce border controls, but this may not always be the case.

It's not your criticism of Israel that makes you a Nazi, its your labeling of Jews as animals (and not just Jews, apparently), and calls for a second Holocaust that makes you a Nazi. They come from authoritarian societies with a strong state, we come from democratic societies with a relatively weak state. They come from communal-based societies, we are capitalist and individualistic societies.

Nahh, i think its a bad idea to allow them in, legal or not! Most of them have no loyalty to America and have been indoctrinated with this mindset that one day they will take back America from the "White European invader". The more diversity, the more divisions within society. Don't believe me?? Look at most third world countries, there's always sectarian or ethnic conflicts. Racially/culturally,ethnically homogenous countries tend to be more stable and prosperous (China, Japan, Korea).

If solving the labor issue is the reason for allowing some of these people in then that can easily be solved by putting an end to the practice of abortion amongst Americans and teaching people to stop being lazy and arrogant and start putting them to work.

How about Argentina? They are 90% white. While whites in USA will be minority in couple of decades. While Argentina will stay 90% white.

Will USA still be part of West when majority is Latin american mulatos and follow their own system?
