Production of arms with Germany, Korea soon

WAH, Nov 7: Pakistan will start co-production of arms and ammunition with Germany and Korea by January 2007. This was disclosed by Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Lt General Syed Sabahat Hussain while talking to journalists after the inaugural session of a two-day seminar on “public-private partnership” here on Tuesday.

He said memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to this effect will be signed during the forthcoming international defence exhibition and seminar (IDEAS) 2006.

He said the POF will keep abreast with the current trends and actively involve the private sector in joint ventures. He said priority will be given to the domestic investors.

He said technologies which were once branded as “hush hush” were now being offered to the POF as joint ventures for co-production and co-marketing.

Would love to see german subs in Karachi dockyards. :agree:

We can definately get some help in the area of electronics for tanks, and armour for sure. South Korea has a very powerful military industry which produces one of the best military equipment in the world, and as for Germans you know them!

what is the scope of public private partnership in arms production in pakistan......will pakistan allow private companies to transfer of technologies from other countries...??

.
If it is in the interest of the nation, and we are getting a good pay back. Why not? In return we will get more than what we give.

.
which type of arms and amunition will pakistan produce in co-producttion..??

Don't get too excited guys its probably just small arms. Can't say i know of any korean equipment other than the K1 (which is just a slightly variation on the Abrahms i beleive.)

I am betting it is rifles and ammo.

.
i agree with you...i don't think so that there will be great suff......

i hope there should be small butt smart stuff....

.
And about Germans guys. They are most in-flexible in thier approach. There motto is always this: Adjust your (the client) requirements according to german products, Not vice-versa. this is a major problem with Germans in almost all avenues, that they offer.
