People, I have received a CD-ROM from a very distinctive source, which I am keen to share with you guys, but although it plays perfectly on a DVD player but sadly my lap top doesn't seem to read it hence i can't upload it for all to view. Any suggestions.

. . . .
Means its not running well even after copying on the hard drive? Have you tried both, copying the contents and making an iso image?

A friend who knows quite a bit about all this tried but the copy comes out very dark and with interference.

I am not sure, but may be you could record it on the hard disk by connecting dvd player to a tv tuner card. I am not sure if the connection is possible.

.
If you can upload the movie somewhere and give me the link I can run some avisynth filters do some cleanup and encode it to some nice avi format. or ask your friend to use avisynth and megui for encoding it.

.
if it can be copied but plays with interference, then its a codec problem.
If it can not be copied, then you need to clean up the disc and make sure you drive lens is clean.

That is the whole problem, if i could upload it then at least something is there to view.

It plays like any DVD / CD on the DVD player, the problem arises when i play it on the laptop.

. .
1. Use VLC player.
2. If doesn't work, create iso of the disk
3. Encode the DVD format into avi.
4. Play the file

I think the problem should be solved with first step, it looks like a codec problem.

As i said a friend who is a computer geek gave it a shot but the quality just faded just like when you try and copy a digitally mastered film.
