What's new

Prime Minister Modi's daalkhor swearing in ceremony.

for outsiders, a peoples' cuisine is the most important part, and the first and most tangible thing about any culture.. anthropologically speaking.

it is indeed quite telling that you went "wut :what:"

when I said gushtaba lol

you guys have a north Punjabi, pahari culture in that land you call 'azad Kashmir'.. where nobody speaks Koshur, the arts and crafts (carpets etc) are all on this side, even the food if different.. It is only in India where Kashmiri identity remains, across the spectrum.

most of your guys, on the other hand, are expansionist Islamic zealots, you messed up the demographics in that region because of fear. Here in India, the original Kashmiri culture thrives, because the Brahmins that rule us are actually smart people, while you have raging mullahs (of all stripes) running your country, and an army that does all it can to placate them and keep them (the votebank for their preferred candidate) in check. Kashmiris are way better off in India.

anyway, seek out a genuine Kashmiri joint and eat a fuckin' rista with rice one of these iftars, love that pounded meatball spongy texture..

Today, all eyes are on the Rashtrapati Bhawan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi, who has been re-elected as PM for a second consecutive term, is set to take the oath of office at 7 pm today. The mega event has a lengthy guest list including names of eminent politicians, sports leaders, actors, diplomats and leading industrialists from around the world. Business tycoons like Mukesh Ambani and Bill Gates to leading actresses like Kangana Ranaut are expected to witness the PM and his cabinet of ministers take the oath at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

However, it's not just the guest list but also menu for the event that has been grabbing attention. While lemon tarts, samosas and sandwiches are going to grace the high tea, a culinary marvel named ‘Dal Raisina’ is expected to rule the dinner menu.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan’s special in-house innovation has two key ingredients: whole black lentils (urad dal) and saffron-flavoured tomato puree. However, it's not just the flavour of this dish that is making headlines.

Chefs are also getting into a clash with respect to the amount of time it takes to cook 'Dal Raisina'. Chef Machindra Kasture, who made the dish for the first time in 2010, claims that the dal takes six to eight hours to cook. However, Rashtrapati Bhavan's current chef, Monty Saini, begs to differ. Saini believes that the dal takes a whopping 48 hours to cook.

The dal, which will be served tonight, has reportedly been in process since Tuesday.

The velvety preparation is topped with mild spices, butter, cream and some kasuri methi. It's cooked on a low flame for six to eight hours. The heavy dal goes well when served with rice.

However, 'Dal Raisina' is not the only dish gracing the swearing-in ceremony menu. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights like mutton rogan josh, chicken malai tikka, dahi kebab, chicken korma, aachari paneer, kadhi pakoda and Kashmiri delicacy gushtaba will also be served as part of the delectable dinner

Modi doesn't like killing cows; his preference is Muslims.

But Modi's allies from elsewhere sure love their pork and beef. Meat market in Shillong, Meghalaya. NPP is part of NDA, as an example.
