I am astounded; you have perfect geography in Baluchistan or even in the higher elevations to set up massive telescopes which various institutions can use.

The high altitude desert in GB is perfect for telescopes and observatories. I guess its all to do with economy.

Let the universities get involved and drive this.

This is sutherlands here. Similar climate to Baluchistan. Then in the Kalahari is the massive SKA radio astronomy complex.

Just look at all the projects underway at MeerKAT; that brings in huge funds.

My lecturer Justin 27 yrs back; now professor's brain child is Meerkat/SKA.

Using a theodolite for astronomy ?? come come.

Unfortunately it seems there is no interest in astronomy. But maybe in future if Pakistan go on development’s path.

whenever I look at sky in the night and see all the stars and think about the distances then I say thank God there are more than 6 billions humans with me on this earth 😉

thanks to have named the tool of our specialists

it is shameful - theodolites are used for surveying not for astronomy; binoculars are better than theodolites anytime.

Why not any interest? I am sure you have far more clearer skies as well. Time in most observatories is booked solid and you need to be on waiting list. My adventures in astronomy are of amateur nature. I built my own scopes even won 2nd prize for one entry. The field of radio astronomy is huge now;

I remember when I was in Pakistan in my childhood I was used to saw so many stars. But I was under 6.
I was told they are stars but nothing more...

When I arrived in France, I discovered so many books about astronomy but I was alone, I was struggling with french language already. So was too hard for me. And there was no association of passionates amateurs in astronomy near my town. I wanted to buy a telescope but hadn’t time.
I’m still interested at personal level. I trie to follow news in astronomy on french websites ( geeks websites).

I will try to give this passion to my children and help them to discover astronomy. But Covid has to go first

take care my friend.

Hopefully, Pak is ultimately getting serious with the space domain. She needs to have tons of micro-sats to control the UAVs at the first place....
