In a statement that may spark fresh controversy, VHP leader Praveen Togadiaon Tuesday said that a law for having only two children should be framed.

"Population of minorities is continuously increasing, but when the issue is raised, a controversy is started. Therefore a law for having only two children should be framed," Togadia said addressing a programme to mark 50th foundation day of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). He claimed that the number of Hindus would increase and one day tricolour would fly high in Kandahar, Lahore and Dhaka.

Togadia said that when Hindus talk about their problems, the so called leaders become secular. Hindus had faced conversion and nobody else could understand the pain, he said. The VHP leader accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of indulging in minority appeasement.

He said that Hindus would have to become alert towards their rights and insults at them. Togadia said that VHP would celebrate only when Ram Temple was constructed in Ayodhya as per the wishes of the Hindus.

So the problem is not over population but to curtail minority birthrates, also he has stated territorial claim on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh all in one statement. @Redhawk this goes for your thread as well this dude is one of the strongest in all of India, head of the VHP and some say soon to be head of the RSS which controls the BJP ruling party of India.

@Topic, If we forget about the religious jingoism and look at the two child policy then it makes sense.

Population increase is going to be a big problem in the coming days in India.
The rate of increase in population may be more than that of resources or employment opportunities. We already have a huge population to take care of and the efforts taken in that direction so far leave much more to be desired.

So far, a two child policy was implied or suggested by the govt.A good campaigning was done in the 90s but then again, it disappeared.If I'm not mistaken, I think there is also a policy for the govt. employees where, an employee gets HRA and some other benefits for only two children.
I believe, we need to have stronger forms of laws, benefits. and a strong campaigning.

He specifically pointed out minorities so basically his problem is not over population but the minority population. Add the BJP ministers recent comment on hindu women should have 5 kids and you can start to connect the dots.

Anyway I have a bigger problem with his second comment anyway.

It is quite simple,Both r wrong. About the BJP minister recent comment on hindu women to have 5 kids is foolishness. About Pravin Togadia,had he said there should be a common law for every Indian that they cannot have more then 2 children,then he is right. He should not have targetted any minorities or any community.Well I am a parent & I have one daughter. With increase in the cost of living,it is very difficult to raise 2 children. About raising 5 children,a good part of my salary would go to pay their school fees,drawing classes & other expenses,hardly I would be able to save. It would be extremly difficult. Many of the middle class families in Bombay (now mumbai) India have one or two children.
Just alter the scenario,u have a Pakistani mullahs appealing to have more then 5 children in Sindh. How it would be.

I support this idea. 2 kids is the way to go forward. it is just equal to the replenishment rate. So population stays relatively constant and there is enough available young workers as well. Good idea from the Doctor.

A China like policy restricting children to two will do great for us. After having two kids there must be either sterilization or a bond must be signed that future children will be adopted by the State. Of course this will affect almost ONLY the Muslims(all minorities have 1 or 2) but that should be irrelevant.
