I don't think the ground realities have ever been the pretext for voting in sub continental politics. If that was case... we wouldn't be in a kinda situation where we are today & most of our dynastic political parties would have ceased trading long time ago. Majority of the voting public are not privy to the ground realities & are easily swayed by the false promises!!

For one, Zardari has a lot more political acumen than people can ever give him credit for ; He understands the power of compromise in politics and is the "survivor" par-excellence of PPP. He knew to sacrifice a PM and fend off a vitroiolic Judiciary at the right moment, while also mature enough to maintain his friendship with Nawaz and MQM too. Politically, his votebank is intact, in fact may even rise slightly. Unless, PML-N pulls some rabbit out of the hat, PPP will sweep this set of elections too come Election Day.

dude the promises which PPP made years ago havent come true i dont think even the dumbest guy will again believe on false promises and that too the gas pipeline, i dont think that the basic needs of a human like law and order, peace, governance, good economy, jobs etc can be fullfilled through the gas pipeline

Of course gas pipeline is not going to serve any purpose of a common man... but PPP can use this to convince public that they are independent of any US pressure. Afterall there is an anti-US sentiment... & PPP can cash on those emotions.

I agree that people are fed up & are much more aware of the prevailing situation. Then again.. the voting public need to have a viable alternate. Maybe IK can provide that to them... But can we say with guarantee that IK will prevail in the coming elections? I hope he does... but he needs a massive shift in loyalty from voting people of Pakistan.
