ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged as majority party in the Senate of Pakistan.
In the Upper House, PPP has 23 Senators. Four Senators were elected from NWFP today.
The elected Senators include two each from Pakistan People Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP). According to unofficial results, ANPs Farah Aqil Shah and Afrasyab Khatak while Farhat Abbas and Adnan Khan of PPP have won Senate elections.
Earlier, Nine members of the National Assembly from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) cast their votes to elect four senators from FATA for the Senate of Pakistan.
According to sources, a total of 9 members of the Lower House from FATA (out of eleven) cast their votes to elect four members from FATA for the Upper House.
Four newly elected Senators include Haji Khan Afridi, Idrees Safi, Abbas Khan and Engineeer Abdur Rasheed. A final notification to this effect will be issued tomorrow.
