Once China master the the art of photolithography and the related technologies, there is absolutely nothing US can do to stop China from surging forward.

Judging from the comments, China is very confident that the obstacles will be overcome and it will be within these 1~2 years.

US is getting desperate. It has seen China catch up in so many areas and are in panic after COVID. They realise their power and influence is slipping and they are lashing out against everyone. They tried the market access war using tariffs and that backfired. Now they are using their position in semiconductor to stop China’s technology progress. The final attack on China will be financial sanctions with denying Chinese companies access to US capital markets and denying access to the dollar.

Ain't that easy. The US spent like 10 years researching EUV tech. If China can catch up in 5 years it'll be a good effort

US doesn't even have a market for it. GloFo sold its EUV and is focusing on 14 nm. Intel is stuck at 10 nm with its mainstream products still at 28 nm.

EUV is mostly for controlling Taiwan and South Korea.

The 7nm EUV machine ordered by SMIC could not be delivered because of a sudden and mysterious fire at its plant destroying the machine and now its export licence to China has expired due to Wassenaar Agreement.
