Possible solution for the future replacement of Pakistan Navy's P3C Orion

I will say this over & over again that Pakistan needs to buy all it's military hardware for China & China only. Pakistan needs to stay close with China forever, there is no need to look at US & Europe because they will never help Pakistan today. So Pakistan stay close to China.

China is a good optioon but remember that anyoneplacing all thsir eggs in one basket will suffer in the long term. Best strategy is to develop capabity for all major stuff inhouse and only buy higher tier stuff in small amounts with an option for TOT in house. This will develop local industry and financially would be a betterr option.

How could someone think about spending money on the possible replacement of P3C's, we need to induct more submarines and ships.

I am a bit sure that US will very soon going to take away all the weapons and equipment that they have given free of cost to the Pakistani Military that includes P-3Cs. So finding an alternative is necessary. Can anyone tell us that the P-3Cs destroyed were Pakistani or US supplied one through AID program.???

That is an illogical assumption. The US cant take away what it has given you. The real reason stems from an interview by Naval chief stating that P3s are expensive to run 7/7 during peacetime and they might look at a cheaper to run option for peacetime SAR duties. S o the next post from you should takeinto account that option. P3 replacement is certainly not on the cards and the US wouldprobably replace the losfones in due course as they are essentially"defensive " in nature.

Calm down buddy, he was probably just looking for some better option for PN..
He would have opened it because Indian Navy is getting P-8s which are successors of P-3Cs. So its a good thread for discussing the long range maritime plane for PN.. And ZDK is not the better but probably the only option for pakistan, coz it is cheap and chinese..
If you're implying P3C is bad because it (the airframe) is old, think again: there are quite a few NATO countries operating it (and not looking at P-8 for replacement) e.g. Germany (ex-Dutch), Greece, Norway, POrtugal, Spain, Canada (Aurora variant). Not to mention that US still operates some 130! This would not be the case if it were a poor aircraft for the job.

bro. just forget about the us relacing the lost.ones ; what shall happen if the usa turns on the sanctions ? the lack of spare parts vill make this beast (p3c) a kitten and the mr.dependable plane gets grounded even before it proving its salt in a war against india , which by the way , is bound to happen ... :pakistan:

Pakistan Navy had floated a tender for the purchase of a turbo-prop aircraft a few months back. One of the conditions in the tender was that the aircraft should already be in service with PIA. That only pointed to the ATR aircraft. At this time PN is looking forward to purchase the ATR aircraft and then convert it into a Maritime Platform. End of Story!

PN has more a lack of trust on the P3C surveillance equipment (fear of being bugged or sabotaged by the US in critical time) then it has on the airframe credibility. The general feel within the armed forces these days is not to have US equipment in critical systems.

ATR converted to maritime role? That too from PIA. Seems really awkward. Although the life of the ATR's is good, only 6-8 years.

PIA is also getting new Boeings, so perhaps PIA not really bothered to offroll a ATR. I think Mr. Rao Qamar might have had a hand in this?

Bhai Jaan! PN is getting 'new' ATR platforms and not the one's currently in use with PIA!!

Oh...so that means PN might be sharing the maintenance with PIA, easy integration in a sense. Good move then!

We could look at the E-3s which the US may retire(I know it's a far fetched theory but anything can happen!).

Not happening soon.. the planned replacement for the e-3/E-8 and RC-135 was the E-10MC2A.. which was cancelled.

Bhai.
Firstly it is illogical on grounds that p3platforms share the same engine as C130s. There are plenty of platforms for PAF orPN to cannabolize to survive during the war. That is about all tbat US can embargo. There is nothing in the radar that requires frequent changes. Secondly whether US replaces the lost platforms needs to be seen but it seems likely that they will. Even if they dont we will have enough platforms for the job. Thirdly the frailty of international eelations is well known to people in the know in Pakistan. If they continue to ask for US equipment it must mean that they know something that you dont . So unless you are calling alldefence policy makers treacherous and traitorous your logic again fails.
Finally the next war that you so surely prophesize will be a nuclear one with devastating consequences for the region and the world. So inshort you are wishinv for most of your family and friends and loved ines to either be wiped out or face a slow and painful death due to radiation poisoning. So if I were you I would hope for peace rather than being so jingoistic and sure about a war in the sub continent.
