India is planning to upgrade a significant portion of its MKI fleets to Super 30 standrad.
The upgrade will see new, better equipments, ASEA radar and as many suggest, new, more powerful engines (as AESA radar require more power).
117 engine intended for powering prototype of Pak Fa, has thrust of 33,000 lbf which is 14,969 KG, but probably is in early production and not in service.
When Prasun K Sengupta said that Super MKIs will have 15 ton engines, he was reffering to these beasts.
AL-31F M1 offers thrust of 30, 300 lbf whcih is 13,608 KG and it is already in production.
I think one of these engine be used on Super MKI as ASEA radars, which will fitted on Super MKIs will demand more power.
