ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the current petroleum situation in the country and directed for structural changes to ensure that such a situation does not arise again.

The two-member committee, which was tasked to investigate the matter, presented their initial findings to the premier, informing him that the petrol shortage was a serious failure on the part of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority as a regulator.

The meeting endorsed an earlier decision of suspending four senior officials responsible for the crisis. Further, PSO Finance Deputy Managing Director Sohail Butt was also held equally responsible for the shortages and orders were given for his suspension.

The PM doesn't work on every issue that a country faces. He has ministers running larger institutes who report to him. Similarly, the Finance Department doesn't know what the Oil & Gas buy, Drills, Explores, or how much "more" money does the Army want for AK III MBT due to "new features". It just knows an invoice was sent an as a Purchase Order or Requisition and upon approval from the right signing authority, it issues a check or electronically transfers the funds.
The finance department didn't stop any payment here. The O&G department didn't care to check the demand, supply and order new reserves per the depleted supplies. Plus, they obviously didn't care to stock up the oil when its cheap. Beats me. No wonder so many people got fired. These people from O&G (including ministers) should apologize for their mess and be fired.

Now that this has happened, what's more important is to make sure that the ordinary citizens DO NOT have to deal with this again. Firing responsible parties should send a message across the country that people not fulfilling their responsibilities will be fired without questioning. If I was the Chief Executive of O&G, I would've resigned voluntarily and issued a statement apologizing to the public.

ok first of all i am regular enough to deserve a tag :( and your poll is wrong, How can you list organisations that are all to blame and ask which one of these are at fault. I guess me telling you your poll is wrong takes away chances of future tags :P

i think its TTP
Nope! It's a RAW conspiracy!

But seriously, why are only officials being blamed for the fiasco? What about the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Shahid Abbas? Don't the elected politicians have any responsibility in the positions they are holding? Shouldn't he be sacked too?

you see our system is different. We reward the politicians for screwing up our lives. plus 3 ministers were involved. And you will find people still defending them with real lame excuses. when the finance minister says it is a conspiracy one wonders who runs the country. When a minister has one job which is too look at petrol supplies and he can not manage them you know martial law is better.

Its a joke asking who is responsible for the crisis after 8 long days, even the minster of the concerned minstry has aplogized for his failure?

.
The government, the government and the government itself.
Take no notice of what's happening under your nose, and you take the responsibility for it.

Nice satire.
Yeah if they have started using the petrol bombs or have installed a petrol guzzling engine inside their vests.
Couldn't know that i would say anything that will go in their favor. But that is what it is.

The legacy of Moulana Diesel lives ,we have found a new Sufi Petrol, the one and only Mr.Shahid Khaqan Abbassi.

When the prices of petrol have gone down globally Pakistan is the only country where petrol has disappeared. The fact is there is no limit of corruption, like mega corrupt PPP the current Govt. PML-N has also proven it that they will do limitless corruption & they will continue to harm Pakistan in all fronts.

Congrats to all DMEOCRAZY lovers.

either the bald guy is so incompetent and has incompetent people, or the bald guy is involved in a hoarding crime, when the petrol prices are going down, hoarding the oil means selling it for a high rate and earning more profits
