I was in Islamabad last week and happened to visit Marriot. Seriously speaking it has now been made like a fortress with Steel inforced walls and snipers looking around in all directions. Also you need a lot of time to get around Islamabad as you have to face at least 2-4 check points on every route. Havn't seen these scanners though.
