Over the last year I have been writing a book about the history of the Destroyer HMS Onslow, which, in 1947 became HPNS Tippu Sultan.

I have all the information I need on the Royal Navy service of the vessel, and also of her participation in the shelling of Dwarka in 1965, and about her conversion to a type 16 frigate in 1957, but am very short on information about the ships movements and activities during peacetime, for example I would be very greatfull if anyone could tell me which ships from other countries took part in operations Midlink 73 and Midlink 75. I would also appreciate any information on refits, including dates and places, and which types of radar and asdic/sonar were upgraded

I know that the ship was decommissioned in 1980, and became a base ship in Gwadar, renamed PNS Muhafiz, but can anybody tell me what happened to the ship after that, I presume that by now she has been scrapped, but would really like to know where, and when!

OK, it is now more than a year since I asked the question above, I have almost finished writing the book, and I have not had a single reply to the questions I originally asked! Surely someone out there served on this ship, and can tell me a bit more about her! If I finish the book without hearing more, then I am afraid the part about her service with the Pakistan Navy will be very short, so far I cannot even find when or where the ship was finally scrapped.
